Pike Road Schools

Think. Innovate. Create. The Pike Road Way 2.20.16

The Mission of Pike Road Schools

To create a culture of intellectual curiosity where all students have ownership of their learning and are inspired to think, innovate and create.

Come share about your profession at Career Day on March 11!

SEEKING SPEAKERS TO TALK ABOUT THEIR CAREERS:

Community 7/8 is hosting our first ever Pike Road School’s Career Day on March 11. This is a student organized project. The goal for Career Day is for students at Pike Road School to get a better understanding and to be inspired by possible career options. In the morning, we will have speakers who will share about their careers. If you are interested in sharing about your career, please click here and share your information.

SEEKING COLLEGE STUDENTS (or recent graduates) TO TALK ABOUT COLLEGE:

We are also looking for volunteer college students (not freshmen) or recent college graduates to speak at this event. They will share about college life and their major. If you are interested or know of college students who might be interested in being on a panel, please click here and share your information.

We will follow up with you once we review all the information.

The event will be at Woodland United Methodist Church. If you or your company would be interested in paying for lunch (approximately $850) and/or paying for school buses to transport learners to Woodland United Methodist Church, please send an email to info@pikeroadschools.org.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Community 7/8 Career Day Project Team

Learners investigating how an object can be seen when light reflected from it’s surface enters the eye. They completed research and are creating a model to demonstrate their findings.

While Dr. Freeman, Mrs. Lang and Mr. Kendall were visiting High Tech High in San Diego, our Patriots sent them a video about all the learning taking place at PRS!

In order for C6 learners to recognize how the Cold War conflict manifested itself through sports, they participated in "Griswell's C6 Olympics." They were divided into their alliances and competed in archery and chess (to find our C6 Bobby Fischer) and will have other activities throughout the study. The winning alliance will be able to "press the button" on the losing alliance at the end of the study.

PRS Band

Beginner Band Flute Trio
Approximately once a week, we have a "Showcase Recital" during Beginning Band Class to give the students a chance to show off music they have learned on their own. Seojin, Hannah, and Grace performed "Frère Jacques" in the style of a "round." They worked this up on their own and did a great job!

Members of the Intermediate Band are currently researching the history and development of their instruments. They will present their research by creating a PowerPoint Presentation.
