Bacteria decomposes dead organisms. It is the reason why you don't see dead bodies piled up on the streets. Another benefit, is that they may liberate advantageous gases that can be used by other organisms. Some bacteria may also participate in the nitrogen cycle.
HIV/AIDS infects more than thousands of people a year. It is spread so easily in today's culture, because people are very careless in who they have intercourse with. There is not much that can be done to cure this disease. However, there are small steps being made.
