Tell Us a Little Bit About Yourself
I am a proud graduate of Wheeler High School. I earned my BA from Purdue North Central and my Master's from Ball State.
My husband, Rich, and I are residents of Union Township along with our daughter, Olivia, a 2020 graduate of WHS, and our son, Jack, a sophomore at WHS. We have 2 dogs, Trixie & Lemon, and one cat named Kitty.
How long have you been a teacher?
This is my 17th year with Union Township Schools. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades at Union Center and John Simatovich. I have also taught Title 1 Reading and 6th-8th grade Reading at Bailly Middle School for the Gary Schools Corporation.
What is the Best Part About Being a Teacher?
My favorite part of being a teacher is building a relationship with my students each year. I love getting to know them, watching them grow and learn everyday, and seeing them achieve hard earned success.
I really enjoy seeing former students now in middle and high school. It makes me proud to know I had a small part in helping to get them there!
What Do You Like to do When You Are Outside of the Classroom?
Outside of school, I love being with my family. I also enjoy reading, watching comedies, and relaxing in the pool during the summer!

Proper Winter Attire at Recess (UPDATED)
(UPDATED) Per the UTSC Handbook, students will NOT be going outside when the temperature is below 10 degrees, which includes the wind chill. For more information, please visit the Elementary Handbook HERE.
Just a friendly reminder that students must have the proper attire in order to go outside for recess: This can include snow pants, boots, gloves, hat, etc., depending on the age of the child.
Since students will still need to rotate areas while outside, it's imperative that students be prepared with the proper attire in order to stay warm and safe while outside :)
Protocols and Guidelines (RECURRING)
Just a reminder, the safety guidelines and protocols that have been in place at UCE since August will remain as we return to school in 2021! This means that students will still:

- Participate in recess with only the students in their classroom

Principal Fuller's Thoughts
This is good because...
This is a phrase I've used recently as a way to always find the GOOD and POSITIVE in every situation.
Whenever something GREAT, MEDIOCRE, or just plain BAD happens, it's important to train your brain to look on how you can learn and grow from this situation.
This is good becauseā¦
It's important to look for ways to be grateful for all things in life, both the good and the bad. Sometimes this can be a tall order, and there are no doubt situations in life that sometimes leave us thinking....um, what just happened?
If we focus solely on the negative or more challenging aspects of life, it keeps us in pain and resentment, and yes it is true what they say, negativity attracts negativity.
This is good because...
Finding the good and the lessons even in the negative allows us to move through them with a clear head and to learn for future experiences.
Listen...nobodies perfect....we all make mistakes...it's part of life.
In the end, it's not healthy to dwell on our mistakes.
We must accept our mistakes, learn from them, and grow to be better people.
This is good because...
