The Good News
Fall Break Edition - St. John XXIII Catholic School
Remembrance Day Ceremony
Jesus laid down His life to make peace between God and sinners, and when we can carry that message of peace to others, we are peacemakers. God delights in those who reconcile others to Himself—those who bring the gospel are “beautiful”.
God reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. Those who bring reconciliation to the broken are carrying on the work of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Those who give of themselves as Jesus did in order that others may know God are called "blessed."
We were blessed with so many family members who came and helped us pay our respects to the men and women who are the "peacemakers" in our world today. Thank you for being our "peacemakers" and to those who came before you, we honor and are grateful for your service. #LestWeForget #WeRemember
Valeda House Stitchers
In support of our Elk Island Catholic Schools adoption of Valeda House, Mrs. Weller and Mrs. Scott invite interested parents and family members to join them Thursdays after school for some fellowship and baby blanket making! Whether you crochet or knit, or would like to learn how to do either of these skills, we would love to have you join us so that together we can support the young women and babies of Valeda House. Please bring knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn in hand and join us in the library from 3:45-4:45 p.m. every Thursday in November and December. If any students are interested in participating, they must bring an adult with them to help them with their project. If you are unable to attend but would like to help by donating yarn, needles, or hooks, please drop them off at the office.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Christmas Nativity Pageant
Dear Parents,
The children’s liturgy program would like to invite everyone to OLA’s annual Christmas pageant on December 10, 2017 during the 11:00am Mass. Please join in the celebration of our Lord’s birth! All are welcome!
We are looking for children ages 3 to grade 4 to be in the pageant. Children do not have to be attending children’s liturgy to be a part of the pageant, although they must be able to attend the rehearsal on Saturday, December 9 at 6:30 pm. We are also looking for any older children to read the story of Jesus’ birth during the pageant. Please note, parents are required to stay with their children to help them dress into their costume and undress after. Parents with children 4 and under are asked to accompany their child at all times throughout the pageant.
If your child would like to participate in the pageant, please sign them up no later than Friday, December 1, 2017, by contacting Kerry Ruddick by phone 587-990-1027 or email: kerryruddick@gmail.com.
