PARCC Testing
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will each be participating in 7 days of PARCC testing during the month of May. Students will complete 4 units of Math and 3 units of ELA. Specific testing dates will be published and sent home at a later date.
Visitation during Testing
While state mandated testing is taking place in the school building, visitation to Woodholme must be restricted in order to ensure test security. We appreciate your understanding. Please make arrangements with your child's teacher if you are planning a school visit.
Positive Rewards
Woodholme has added some positive rewards. You child may come home with a High Five Award, which is a positive office referral. Students are also able to earn monthly rewards such as Golden Ticket passes to the Carson Reading Room and access to the Blast Off Hallway dances.
If your child turns 5 by September 1, 2018, come register for kindergarten! Registration appointments will begin May 1, 2018. Complete this form and return it to Woodholme's office to get a registration packet.
Woodholme will be assisting Winand Elementary by screening students who are eligible for Winand's pre-kindergarten program on Friday, May 18th. Please see the attached flyer for more information!
Full color yearbooks are now on sale! Please send in $20 cash or money order to your child’s homeroom teacher by April 15, 2018. Free online ordering is also available at YBPay.lifetouch.com

A Note From the Principal
May begins the busy schedule of student testing and more school events. Please make sure you check out both the April and May calendars that are included in the newsletter to see what’s going on at Woodholme. It’s also very important to consider the student testing dates for Grade 3-5 students to avoid absences during PARCC testing for appointments that could be scheduled for non-testing times or dates. We appreciate your help with this when scheduling May dentist or doctor appointments for grade 3-5 students! The complete PARCC testing schedule for each grade level can be found on the calendar.
When viewing the April/May calendars you will also notice that Teacher Appreciation Week, which nationally is scheduled to be May 7-11 this year, has been pushed forward for Woodholme due to PARCC testing in May. We will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week for our Woodholme teachers from April 23-27 this year, but students and families can certainly express their appreciation for our teachers either of those two weeks.
The last day of school is scheduled for Friday, June 15th. At this time, June 14th and June 15th elementary schools close 3 hours early. We do not know how BCPS elementary schools will be impacted if at all by the inclement weather days this year. Once BCPS has officially determined the last day of school, we can then finalize our end of year activities.
I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy some family time and relaxation during the BCPS spring weekend!
Happy Spring,
Principal Young
