All Kinds Of Learning!

We have been working hard in Kindergarten, learning so many new things! We have discovered that our students are terrific workers, especially when we are moving and shaking :) We are using the Smartboard for lots of lessons, writing and drawing on white boards, and exercising our new skills in center activities. We also practice our letters, counting, and sight words with songs and dances :)
We have been doing all kinds of math projects and playing games to reinforce what we have learned. We are counting, sorting, ordering, and combining groups of objects. We have used blocks, dice, bears, cubes, shapes, and measurement tools. We have graphed and solved simple number problems. Most of all, we have discovered that math is fun!
We've been listening to both fiction and non-fiction books, and discussing why the author wrote each book and how the pictures help tell the story. We have been composing sentences, using our sight words and simple vocabulary, and drawing pictures to illustrate the sentences. It has been fun and educational!
We have been doing all sorts of seasonal activities to exercise our small motor skills ... working without a drawn pattern and trying to replicate using observational skills ... cutting, sizing, adding details, gluing ... getting those muscles and brains working together :) Your children are happily engaged in these activities and have been producing fabulous things!!

Holiday Happenings!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Holiday Concert at the High School this Friday morning! Just to remind you, the doors will open at 10am and your children will be waiting to show you their musical numbers :)

Next week, we will have a small class party on Tuesday, from 10-11am, during our regular school day. It will not be necessary to send a snack with your children that day - a party snack will be provided.

Wednesday is an early dismissal day for Stoy, so we will only have school from 8:30-10:00am ... and, it's Pajama Day at Stoy!! We will have some cozy time with our kiddos and may watch a short movie and read some special Holiday books!

We wish you a very Happy Holiday and a relaxing break :)
