INC - Month in Review - Jan. 2020
INCubatorEDU@Sheboygan South High School
MVP's are Coming!
The classroom is bustling with activity as the MVP Pitch is looming. Our "on-schedule" teams are designing their MVP experiment and finalizing their MVP Pitch while also getting their solution interviews ready so they can bring data to the presentations.
Our pivoting team is still playing a little catch-up, but has made fine progress to truly identify a problem and zero in on a value proposition through collaboration and problem interview data. I suspect it's just a matter of short time before everyone is back on schedule.
MVP Pitch Day begins Monday, February 10, at noon, in the South High auditorium. If you did not get to RSVP to attend, please contact me via email at gstone@sasd.net.

Student Spotlight - Joseph Y.
Team: PocketWallet
Year: Junior
Joseph is one of the few non-seniors in INC this semester. Through his experiences in other courses and INC, he has zeroed in on going into marketing after finishing high school.
In his after school time, he enjoys playing football for South and works out daily to prepare for next fall.
His favorite part of INC is working with his group and solving problems that come up along the way.
Student Spotlight - Ethan K.
Team: PocketWallet
Year: Senior
Soccer is one of Ethan's passions and he plays on South High's soccer team and a few other smaller teams throughout the area. That team characteristic being in INC, along with the creativity and independence, helps his enjoyment of INC.
Ethan plans to attend college, but is unsure what path he may ultimately study. INC gives him a chance to learn about multiple facets of business while also exploring entrepreneurship and management.
Volunteer Spotlight - Emily Hamel
She chose to get involved with INC because she was part of similar experiences like this when she was a student. "Programs like this one were instrumental in me becoming a business owner." I am very organized and am able to see the overall picture and how it breaks down into bite sized manageable tasks.
Advice for Students: "Try it." The worst that can happen is you find out you don't like something or it won't work. Being open to possibilities, whether it be jobs or taking on side hustles, why not try?
Volunteer Spotlight - Marijo Van Der Vaart
Marijo Van Der Vaart worked with families of executives who were considering relocating to Sheboygan County. She familiarized them with the area so that they could make an educated decision on whether or not Sheboygan County could be their new home. She also had an event planning business working on corporate events. She is a co-mentor to the "unnamed" team (formerly ZMIZET).
She joined the INC team because she felt her experiences in marketing and customer service experience would be a valuable asset to pass on.
Advice for Students: I would say to my high school self that I probably should have taken advantage of more of the educational experiences available. I wish I knew then that, if you find your strengths, success will follow.
Volunteer Spotlight - John Van Der Vaart
John Van Der Vaart currently works as a consultant for Medical industry and brings a lot of entrepreneurial experience, having started Medical Device Sales, Inc, in 2009 and working as a Director of Sales or VP of Sales for VPI Sheboygan and Coeur Medical of Nashville, TN. He is the co-mentor to the "unnamed" team (formerly ZMIZET).
He was enticed by INC because he knew it was going to be interesting and challenging, and he could add value to any team.
Advice for Students: Seek out internships while attending college with international corporations. Those experiences will add a lot of value to your resume.
