Dear Parents:
As we move into Thanksgiving week, I would encourage you to talk with your child about "gratitude". We talk about it often here at WMS- with our staff and our students. At the start of faculty meetings, we begin with "celebrations and gratitudes" before we get down the business.
Research clearly tells us that people who express gratitude are happier in life. I know that when I take the time to tell people about, or even just reflect on, the things I am grateful for, I feel a sense of calm and well-being in my life. So I would like to share the things I am grateful for this year.
I am grateful for:
- The hard work and positive attitudes many of our students have put forth this year in really challenging times.
- The kindness and grace that our RedHawk parents have shown to our teachers and staff as we have adapted to our new reality. I hope you know how much your kind words mean to us!
- The teachers, teaching assistants, and office staff who have worked tirelessly doing something we never thought we would have to do- and have been cheerful about it!
- My own family. They have supported me on those days when I have struggled.
On behalf of the Wredling administration, teachers, and staff... Happy Thanksgiving!
Tim

8th Grade Students Virtual High School Counselor Visit:
On Friday, December 4th, ALL 8th-grade students will be meeting virtually with their high school counselors for a 25-minute presentation. Students will receive an email from their counselor that will contain a link to a Zoom meeting. For this meeting, students will need their Chromebooks and their earphones.
We are planning to host these meetings as follows to support both Hybrid and Remote ONLY learners:
Hybrid students will attend these virtual meetings during their 6th period from 12:30-12:55 pm
Remote ONLY students will login to the virtual meetings during their 7th period Asynchronous from 1:00-1:25 pm.
For all students, the counselors will email each student the code and instructions for joining their meetings. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Ethan Wood, who is our 8th-grade counselor, or Dr. Patrick McGuire, Assistant Principal.

Hybrid Students achieving Honor Roll status received a ribbon and gift from the PTO. NOTE: Remote families whose students achieved Honor Roll status can pick up their items in the Wredling Main Office. Next week the office will be open on Monday, 9:00am-2:00pm. Otherwise, our normal office hours will resume on Monday, November 30th.
Congratulations to all of our RedHawks who worked hard throughout our 1st quarter of this school year. A special shout out goes to those who were able to achieve Honor Roll status by earning either all A's or all A's and B's. All A's are on one tab, AB's are on another! See the bottom of the page to switch tabs.
We may have some children who earn Honor Roll status but their name is not included on this list. This is because their parents have requested their children's names NOT be published, which includes being published as part of the Honor Roll here or in the newspapers. Changes to this request can be made either in the Home Access Center or with Student Services.

How to Get a Replacement Charger Cord
- Your student tells the LRC staff that they need a new charger cord. The LRC will add the fee to the student's PushCoin account. The student can then let the LRC know the charger has been paid for, either by showing the paid receipt or asking the LRC to check on their account. We need your students in-school (albeit remote) to learn! Kids being present is simply the most critical component to a students’ academic success. It is our goal to support your student and family in making sure that your student is present and active in their education daily, both synchronously and asynchronously.
Your student will receive an unexcused absence in these circumstances.
- Student is NOT logged in and participating in their synchronous learning sessions
- Student is logged in but is unresponsive
- Student logs in but doesn't stay in session. (Ex. Logs in for 10 minutes, then leaves)

Upcoming Parent University Offerings:
Virtual
December 8, 2020
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Being the parent of a gifted child means MORE – more intense, more curious, more sensitive, more active, more idealistic, and more intuitive. Understanding these unique personality characteristics and how they combine in individual gifted children can provide insights into behaviors at home and school. This presentation will focus on the affective aspects of being gifted, including sensitivity, intensity, and perfectionism. Dr. Michele Kane, professor of Gifted Education at Northeastern Illinois University, will provide parents with effective strategies and techniques for dealing with these personality traits, as well as ways to help kids deal with the unique stressors of giftedness, especially during times of increased turmoil. Please fill out this form if you are interested in attending.
