Newsletter Term 2 Week 10
St Mary's School Blenheim Thursday 7th July 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Kia ora koutou te Kura O hato Mere whānau,
What a term it has been for us all. Amazing students shining their lights in so many magnificent ways. Lighting up the lives of our entire hapori whānui. Lately the Enviro team planting trees for the future of us all at the Wither Hills, the Student Leadership Team traveling to Christchurch and engaging in deep learning about leadership and sharing these gems with the whole school community, a stunning Pentecost Mass and a calm reflective liturgy focused on Matariki, Water skills for Life, Principal for a day. Also the plan for the landscaping of the school and the development of the Little Theatre.
Moving forward this year we are looking forward to the next school mass, The Assumption of Mary, school camps and the amazing 150th Jubilee Celebrations.
However the most important focus at the moment is your personal health and well being. Please take time these holidays to rest up, recuperate, have time together in the fresh air and get back to full health.
A goal for us all is to have all tamariki back at school on the first day of Term 3. We have not had a all children at school for some time now due to ill health and COVID-19. I pray and hope that all children and whanau are happy and healthy, ready to shine their lights again at the start of the term.
Enjoy your holidays, have fun, stay safe and create new and exciting memories.
May God bless you all,
Your’s ‘In Christ’s Light’
Paddy Dowling

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
On Sunday June 12 at the Morning Mass 15 students received the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time.
These students had prepared for this special occasion over four weeks following on from their preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation.
In the previous 3 masses Father Michael had used his homily to involve and engage these students and it was a delight to see so many students joyfully anticipating and participating in their first Eucharistic.
As a Faith Community we welcome and congratulate these students
Joshua Shoemark, MacKenzie Ho, Saoirse Zintl, Junior Tebakatu Itimaera, Teuea Itimaera, Kael Meneses.

SPORTS NEWS
Marlborough Netball Notice - Furture Ferns & Year 5 & 6 Netballers
Kia Koutou,
I’m sure you are all counting down the days till the end of the week …lol
We’ve been fielding a few questions from parents and coaches this week on the Friday Night Future Ferns and Years 5 & 6 on Saturday Morning, It’s a 10 week program the same as the Years 5 & 6, I think this year with Queens Birthday and Matariki it hasn’t fit into one term, (which maybe it did last year? Which could be where some confusion is?)
There is no Future Ferns for the next 3 Fridays, and the next 3 Saturdays for the Years 5 & 6 (School Holidays) They will be back on the 29th and 30th July.
Can you please let your coaches and parents know that here is the link to the competition dates https://www.marlboroughnetball.org.nz/competitions-1/competition-dates-2022
The Friday Night Future Ferns is in Pink, and Year 5 & 6 is in light blue.
Thanks for your help in getting this information out.
Enjoy your school holidays!
Thanks
Bridget
