Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Hart Families,
We have had a busy week. On Tuesday, our Kindergarteners were given the opportunity to enjoy a presentation from the district's Connection Council. This group of high school students meet with Dr. Zambiasi and Mrs. Kordel to learn about leadership and provide input about our district from a student's perspective. This year they have worked on the graduate profile and how to make it meaningful to all students. They reminded us that we are all Leopards and that Lovejoy Leopards are kind, curious, and do their best each and every day in and out of the classroom. At the end of the presentation, the students were given a leopard keychain that many of them attached to their backpacks and a coloring page.
Today, you could hear excitement along our second grade hall because we had some of our butterflies complete their metamorphosis by breaking out of the chrysalis as a painted lady butterfly! It is an awesome time to be a second grader. In life science our second graders are tasked to investigate the unique stages of insect life cycles and how animals interact in their environment. This provides a hands-on opportunity for our students to see the life cycle in action.
As a reminder, students are not allowed to have any kind of cellular device out at school. If your child brings one to school, they will be asked to put it in their backpack. Thank you in advance for helping us follow our cell phone policy.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:

Pink eye and Strep Throat are still going around. If you suspect your child has either of these, please do not send your child to school as both of these require 24 hours of antibiotics to be cleared.
Clothing Donations: The clinic needs your help again as our borrowed clothing inventory is low. The clinic needs clothing in every elementary age especially bottoms, unused underwear, and socks.
As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if he/she has:
o A fever of 100.0F degrees or greater
o Vomiting or Diarrhea
o An infection that requires antibiotics (i.e. Strep throat, bronchitis, etc.) unless they have been on antibiotics for a full 24 hours.
If you have any questions, info about your child I need to know, or your child tests positive for anything, feel free to contact me. Thank you for helping me keep Hart healthy!
