Gator Greetings
We were so proud of students this week as they demonstrated flexibility and empathy for their peers and their teachers. There were many staff and students out for COVID related reasons, but everyone pitched in to keep teaching and learning happening at a high level. We are thankful for our “Allisonville Village” – it truly is a special place. We thank parents for their patience, love, and care as well.
With the short school month, it is hard to believe that we are entering our last week of January! Next week, we will have an Early Release day on Thursday, January 27th for staff professional development. Please plan for your child to be home an hour early on Thursday if they ride the bus and for car riders, dismissal will begin at 2:00pm that day.
On Friday, we will have our first Gator Gathering of the semester. Students are encouraged to wear their pack color because we will be breaking into our Gator Packs to complete a team building STEM activity. Gator Gatherings are a great time for our AV school community to come together to have fun and get to know new friends across all grade levels.
This month our value is EMPATHY and teachers have been talking with their classes about what it means to be empathetic towards others. Mr. Tinker, our School Behaviorist, has been visiting morning announcements to share examples of empathy on his Thoughtful Thursday message. Looking forward to February, our value will be KINDNESS. We have an exciting Kindness Campaign coming, so look for some more details soon. The students are in for a great BE.KIND.CHALLENGE.

PTO Diversity Committee Update
Last month, the PTO Diversity Committee hosted a focus group to brainstorm ways to close the achievement gap for students of color at Allisonville. Caregivers were able to speak with AV teachers in a small group setting about tips to improve academic success and ways to partner with their child’s teacher. Here is a link to the slide presentation that Mrs. Reffett shared.
Save the date for the next PTO Diversity Committee focus group on April 28, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 in the school cafe. More details will be provided at a later date.
