dunning school council
Dear Families,
I invite you to be a member of the Dunning School Council!
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C. The law outlines four major areas of responsibility for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:
Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
Reviewing the annual school building budget
Formulating a school improvement plan
While we will review the above, the main purpose of this school council will be to continue to look at family and community engagement at Dunning and to assist in the development of a plan to address this area.
Meetings will take place at 4:00 - 5:00pm on the following dates: 10/21, 12/9, 1/20, 3/23, and 5/11.
Please join Colleen Gazard, Kevin Lynch, Suzanne Chlapowski and myself as part of this year’s school council by emailing me at mschecter@framingham.k12.ma.us
Sincerely,
Ms. Schecter
