Auditions will be on Wednesday, March 2 at TPCA in the JK Stevens Commons. You must sign your child up for a specific time to audition that evening by clicking HERE.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your audition time to check in. Plan on at least an hour for the audition process.

Callbacks will be on Friday, March 4. Those who are requested for a callback will be notified. If you are not asked to return for a callback, your student may still be selected for a role in the production.

Each student who auditions will be asked to perform a prepared 1 minute audition song OR monologue (if auditioning for non-singing roles) of the student's own choosing.

The Song

  • Prepare 16-32 bars/measures from a Broadway musical (1 minute).
  • Choose a song in your vocal range.
  • Do not choose a pop song. Pop music is a different style and does not evoke the same tone as musicals.
  • Do not plan to sing a cappella – be sure to bring your accompaniment CD or iPod, etc.
  • Practice! Practice! Practice! Be memorized and have fun!

The Monologue

  • Prepare and memorize a comedic or light-hearted monologue (up to one minute).
  • Do not hold back in your delivery; this isn’t the time to feel self-conscious. Be big!
  • Project! Be loud enough to be heard.
  • If your monologue calls for movement, feel free to use the space to your advantage.
  • Ask for a chair if you need one.
  • Practice! Practice! Practice! Be memorized and have fun!

Each auditioner will only have the one minute time allotment, so please plan accordingly. Allow at least an hour for the audition process, which includes a dance portion. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance in.

Important Updates from the School Nurse

Please join us for our blood drive on February 22nd, from 2pm-6pm in our gym. We are hosting this blood drive in conjunction with one of our TPCA families, whose best friend lost a baby girl, Simone, at only 26 months old. Our blood drive is being held in Simone’s memory, and we sincerely hope you will consider donating 1 pint of blood to save a life. Actually each pint of blood is able to save 3 lives: it can be split into Red cells, Plasma, and platelets which can help 3 different people in time of crisis, illness, or injury. The #1 reason most people don’t donate blood is that they haven’t been asked. I am asking you today to PLEASE come and give a unit of blood to potentially save lives in our own community! All of your children’s chapels this week had our blood drive as the focus.

Anyone 16 and older can choose to donate blood. I hope you have seen the letters that we sent home inviting you to donate, because you are able to make an appointment at a time that suits your schedule. Of course, walk-ins are also welcome. We will gladly accept blood from everyone that shows up, regardless of where they are from; this is a community event that I am praying becomes a regular event here!

Winter Time can Be Head Lice Time...

We have had a few reported instances of head lice in our school (as most schools do every winter), and I want to remind everyone to help your kids understand and respect “personal space”! Children put their heads together more during indoor play sessions, for obvious reasons, and this is why lice spreads so much easier during winter months. For girls, please send them to school with their hair pulled back as much as possible. We do not have widespread lice reports in our school, and I am hoping that we keep it that way. As always, you can contact me for any questions.

Another reminder for immunizations: If I have contacted you needing updated immunizations, please get those to me as soon as possible.

Safety Update-Please Do Not Park in Fire Lane

We recently had an event at the school where an adult had a medical issue that required an ambulance. An ambulance and a fire truck responded but were unable to pull onto the service drive in front of the school due to so many cars being parked on the front drive. I know that parking on the front drive has not been something that we have addressed or discouraged in previous years. However, having an issue arise and not being able to get the necessary help to the door was concerning. The Whitestown Fire Department pointed out that our drive has a yellow curb and the lane closest to the school is a fire lane. They have requested that we please keep that lane open at all times for any emergency that may arise.

Wanting to make sure that all children, staff and visitors are as safe as we can make them, administration has complied with WFD and has posted “No Parking Fire Lane” signs along the front drive on the curb next to the school. This is now in effect before and during the school day and for all after school and weekend events. We will still do morning drop off and afternoon dismissal in the same fashion as we always have as the vehicles are not left unattended. I know many of us come to quickly drop off items, visit classes, lunch, or volunteer and at times park on the front drive when doing so. It is the request of our facilities department that you do not leave your vehicle unattended in the first lane closest to the school for any length of time, no matter how short it may be.

We understand this is a big change and will take some getting used to. We do greatly appreciate your understanding and partnering with us to make TPCA as safe as we possibly can.

Reuse Heart and Sole Shoe Collection

Do you have old shoes at home that your kids have outgrown? Bring them to TPCA February 9th-19th and drop them off in the shoe collection bins that we will have located in the Eagles Nest and the JK Stevens Commons. Your old shoes will be a blessing to those in need!

The Boone County Solid Waste management District is once again sponsoring our annual REUSE Heart and Sole program. REUSE Heart and Sole is a shoe collection event that allows us to provide shoes to a new pair of feet in Central Indiana! We typically don't think much about our shoes. We outgrow them, wear them out, or change styles without much thought as to what happens when we discard them. the truth is that discarded shoes can take over 200 years to decompose in a landfill which is a shame when there are so many people in need of shoes next door and all over the world! Thanks for your help!
