UIL Tryouts and Information

It’s that time again! We will begin trying out for UIL contests next week. Once we determine who will be participating in each event, we will begin preparing for the contest. For those of you who do not have experience with UIL, here is some additional information.

  • UIL stands for University Interscholastic League, an organization that governs all athletic and academic contests in the state of Texas.
  • UIL academic programs are designed to support basic curriculum and allow students to apply what they learn in the classroom.
  • Students do this by selecting a contest to enter, spend a couple of months practicing the concepts after school under supervision of a coach, and then compete at the district-wide contest on January 8, 2022.

Click here (Parent Letter & Google Form sign up) for more information, as well as a link to sign your child up for tryouts. Please note the tryout dates that will be held next week on September 20th, September 21st, and September 22nd. Please take some time to get the form filled out by Friday if you would like your child to participate in tryouts.

Lunch Visitors

  • Parents are welcome to eat lunch with their own children in a designated area.
  • We do have specific days in which we ask for no lunch visitors.

  • We also do not allow parents to join their students for lunch on state testing days.

  • When you arrive for lunch, you will need to sign in with the receptionist and then proceed to the MPR (multi-purpose room)

  • For security purposes and to avoid hurt feelings of other students, only your own children will be allowed to sit with you.

  • You are welcome to bring in an outside meal for your student and/or yourself only.

  • If purchasing a tray, please have your child order your meal at the beginning of the day in order to have enough food prepared.

  • We will have expectations that need to be followed, and at no time will lunch visitors be allowed to go in the cafeteria.
