IMPORTANT!
Possible Changes to School Calendar
The Board has not decided on a calendar for next school year (2017-2018) yet, but one of the options they are considering has an earlier start to the school year. What does this mean? This means we would start school a week and a half earlier.
- August 9 would be the first day for staff.
- August 16 would be the first day of school for students.
- We would be done before Memorial Day
Part of the reason for the change is to balance the first and second semester in high school.
This calendar has not been approved, but wanted to let you know what they are considering so that you can plan accordingly should it be approved by the Board.

Reminders
Arrival
- Students will be dismissed to class at 8:30 am. Students will be dismissed by grade level beginning at 8:30. Please be at your door at 8:30 to greet your students and assist with moving students along to their 1st period. Please note that due to the new state rule which was implemented last year, the district changed middle school start time to 8:40 am. The bell will ring at 8:40 and any student arriving after that should be marked tardy. Announcements will begin after the bell. Please be sure to turn on your computer for morning announcements.
Tardy Students
- Students tardy to your class should not be sent to the office for a pass. Please allow the students to enter the classroom and mark them tardy in ESP. Grade level secretaries pull tardy reports every week and consequences are assigned to students.
Lunch Bunch
- If you let your students eat lunch in your classroom or assign them lunch detention with you, please escort those students to and from the cafeteria or give them a green pass with the date and time. Due to students roaming the halls during lunch, we will no longer allow students out of the cafeteria without an adult or a green pass. No generic passes or dots will be accepted.
Dismissal
- Please dismiss students based on their mode of transportation. Remind students that consequences will be given to those who are caught out of their classrooms at the wrong time. If you have asked students to come to you at the end of the day, please give them a green pass.
Grade Level Offices
- If you need assistance from one of the grade level offices give them a call. Sixth and eighth grade offices are closed from 12:00 to 12:30 for lunch. Seventh grade office is closed from 1:33 to 2:03. If you need assistance during that time, please contact the front office or another grade level office.
STAT Process
- When referring students to Ms. Cartwright for RTI you will need to be specific about the areas where the student is struggling. You will need to share all of your observations about that student and what interventions you have tried in the classroom. A lot of the things you do with that student could be counted as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 intervention.
- Ms. Cartwright will work with your schedule when planning a meeting to talk about the next steps in the process. The STAT team is composed of grade level AP, grade level counselor, and the referring teacher. It is very important that all of the parties show up to the STAT meeting in order to have a meaningful discussion about the student.
- What to bring to the STAT meeting? You should bring documentation to show the reason for referral (CCAs, DCAs, tests, notes, etc.) and documentation of any interventions you are trying in the classroom.
