News from Manchester Memorial Elementary School!
September 15, 2017
Principal's Note...
I wanted to give a plug to one of our biggest supporters, the Manchester Memorial PTO. Without their support, we would not be able to do all of the innovative, fun, and engaging things that we do at MMES. They are kicking off a big fundraiser and the kids have a chance to win a $200 Amazon gift card! Details are below:
MMPTO PRIZE CALENDAR FUNDRAISER 9/15-9/29
Today we are beginning a Prize Calendar fundraiser for the MMPTO. Each weekday in October, we will draw a winner for the prize shown on that day. Participation is optional and all funds raised will go directly towards funding MMPTO programs and grants.
The process is simple:
Print as many copies of the calendar as you want, calendar PDF is attached to email that went out today.
Go to your friends, family and neighbors to sell
Have purchaser fill out the bottom portion of the calendar with their information
Take the bottom portion with you, leave them with the calendar of prizes
Collect $10 per calendar
Leave all calendar entries (bottom portion with name & address) and money collected in an envelope with student's name on it in the collection box at front office.
Each weekday in October, we will draw a winner and mail them their prize directly.
THE STUDENT WHO SELLS THE MOST CALENDARS BY 9/29 WINS A $200 AMAZON GIFT CARD!!!
Have a great weekend!
Best,
John
Memorial School Building Committee – Community Meeting
On October 4, 2017 (9AM and 7PM) the Memorial School Building Committee, our Owner’s Project Manager Dore & Whittier, and our Designer JCJ will be hosting two community meetings to discuss the Memorial School Building Feasibility Study. Two sessions are planned for that day and residents from both Manchester and Essex are invited to come learn more about the need for a renovated/rebuilt Memorial School; the Massachusetts School Building Authority and its processes; a timeline; and where you can learn about and follow the project as it progresses. Tours of the building will be available at both sessions.

Art Exhibit
Manchester in Bloom Art Exhibit
This past spring, 4th grade students enjoyed a visit from the Manchester Historical Museums director Beth Welin. Beth gave a presentation about the history of Manchester summer “cottages” and the landscape designers who worked on the properties. The students continued this unit by creating large paper-mache flowers and insects. Their work is on display at the Manchester Historical Museum for the public to view. Thursday, September 28 from 5-7 will be the artists reception celebrating the work the students did. Students entering 5th grade, their families, and friends are all welcomed to this event.
