Dear Thornhill community,
Thank you all for everything you have done to honor Pam Kordosky! The vigil for Pam was a wonderful example of our great community, and it was so great to see so many people here on a Friday evening. Thanks again for all that you do to make Thornhill such a caring and special place.
Adventure Time Announcement
Dear Thornhill Adventure Time Families,
Adventure Time would like to announce longtime Adventure Time employee, Denyse Ibarra, has been named Site Director. Denyse has worked for Thornhill Adventure Time since 1998 and was a valued and trusted co-worker of Pam Kordosky for the past 21 years.
Denyse is a hard worker, has excellent judgment skills, and regards the Thornhill Adventure Time children as family. We are still struggling with the loss of Pam and will always miss her presence at AT. Our priority is to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for your children and we are confident Denyse’s guidance will ensure a stable transition.
Denyse and the AT staff are here for you and your children and will continue to provide the best care possible. Thank you for your continued support.
Back to School Donation Drive Update!
We hope everyone has settled in well these first few weeks of school!
Has your child come home excited to tell you about her art class? Have you been regaled with a detailed description of all the parts of a violin? Has your kindergartner told you all about practicing letter sounds with his favorite teacher’s aide? Have you heard all about learning new skills with Coach? If you can say yes to any of these questions, you’ve had a little reminder of the special parts of the Thornhill experience that are funded by the PFC!
The Back to School Drive is underway. Hopefully by now, you’ve received the form and bright yellow envelope that came home in your child’s homework folder. So far, we’ve received just over $99,000 of our total $200,000 with 25% participation. That’s an amazing start, but we still have a ways to go in the next month. Our goal is for 100% participation. It takes all of us working together, giving whatever amount we are able, to be able to raise $1,000 per student across all the fundraising efforts. All of our kids benefit from this, and Thornhill is an even better school because of it!

Smile! We are using MugsyClicks again this year (woo hoo!) who will be coming to capture your child(ren)’s unique personality and charm on Wednesday, September 11 and Thursday, September 12. MugsyClicks recommends that kids wear a simple shirt without large patterns, words, or graphics.

Can't make it? We will have a make-up day on a day to be announced.
The "Class Photo" this year will be the same as last year - a composite of the individual pictures of the kids and teacher and will be available for purchase after the make-up day.
Ordering information will be emailed to parents from the photographer. There are no pre-orders. Everything will be done online after the picture is taken. You should have a few shots to choose from!
Rescheduled Auction Party: Stella & Dot
Shop for Thornhill! The Stella & Dot women’s accessories host-a-party from last year’s auction is rescheduled to Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 3-5pm. $25 to Thornhill and includes wine and hors d’oeuvres while you shop for versatile jewelry, scarves, and bags. Want to order supplies for your child's class and help earn money for the school at the same time? We've created a central page for teachers' Amazon wish lists — when you shop through the links on this page a percentage of each purchase will go back to Thornhill. Help supply our classrooms, and earn money for the school at the same time!
Green Team Tips of the Week
1. Bring clean soft plastics (ziploc bags, produce bags, bread bags) to our local grocery stores like Safeway, Lucky, and Whole Foods for plastic bag return.
2. Bring old/dead batteries to our local library for safe battery disposal.
3. Start sorting/collecting your EWaste (old computers/screens, dead electronics, etc.) for our upcoming EWaste function (Date TBD).
4. Keep showing up for our school and planet by picking up trash that you see on our grounds and sort your waste please!!
5. Join the Thornhill Green Team and jump into sustainable action with us! Low commitment, high positive impact!

The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Evie Nagy, at email@example.com by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances. It’s fine to include text in the body of the email with links and no formatting, and attach photos preferably as 150 x 150, 72 dpi JPG or GIFs only (not embedded in email or Word file). Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, brevity and clarity.
