Updated Home Work
Nightly Reading Log
For the rest of the year we will be focusing heavily on comprehension and decoding. To help support your child with what we are learning in the classroom, please use this choice board as your child reads to you each night. You and your child may decide which question to focus on each night with the expectation that all questions are answered by the end of the week. After your child has answered the question please sign and date the box so that we know that it has been completed.
Activity Packet: Due Each Friday
Also, we will begin sending home an activity packet on Mondays. The expectation is that your child completes and returns the activities by Friday of each week. These activities are reinforcements of what we are doing in our classroom, as well as preparation for first grade homework. Each week the activities will be a combination of both math and literacy skills.
Thank you so much for all that you do, and please call and/or email me if you have any questions.

We are a Kindergarten Community and a Rainbow of Friends in Room 153
Kindergarten Community Building
Year long, Kindergarten citizens are learning how to exemplify positive relationships through fair play and friendship. We are working together to develop ways to become productive in the classroom, school, home, and neighborhood. Kindergarten citizens are working on these learning goals through the use of 'The 7 Habits of Happy Kids.' I have listed the habits below for you to become familiar with. This past week we have finished learning all of our habits and are working hard at utilizing each strategy within our day! Stay tuned for our 7 Habits Song!
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then Be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Positive Behavior Tracking: Along with The 7 Habits, Kindergarten citizens are also working as a classroom community to build a positive classroom environment. We use the ARTS acronym to remember that we are a learning community working together to reach success. The ARTS acronym is as follows:
Attentive: We are attentive and smart! We listen with our eyes, ears, and heart!
Responsible: Keep things clean for you and me so our school stays the best that it can be!
Thoughtful: We are nice to all living things; animals, plants, and human beings!
Safe: We are safe! Stay in your body bubble to keep away from harm or trouble!
As a Kindergarten Community, we track each time a student earns a purple ticket. We set a community goal to reach a certain number of purple tickets. When we have reached our goal, we have a decision on how we will celebrate. This past week, we decided to have a PJ Party! I wonder what the next celebration will be...
Lets Stay Connected!
As always, I am blessed and honored to have your child in this amazing Kindergarten Community! Thank you for all that you do!
