Mason Gazette
May 20, 2017
Dear Mason Families,
As the school year comes to a close, let's be mindful of the stress that also comes into play this time of year. We are all human beings and we all make mistakes; including our students. While it is hard not to take somethings personal, let's focus on assuming good intentions and exhibiting empathy for others. Everything has the potential to be a learning opportunity for our students. Plato reminds us to "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." We all have our own battles but empathy and seeking to understand first before making judgement goes a long way.
As always, thanks for your support and entrusting us with your child(ren) on a daily basis!
Have a great weekend,
Roy

Spring Vocal Concert

Students in Choir will wear their Choir t-shirts, khaki pants, and blazers as in December.
All other students should dress nicely for Springtime, with no athletic wear, jeans, or athletic shoes.
Staying hydrated is very important! Bring your water bottle to school!!
Hydration is particularly important for children as they have higher water requirements in relation to their body weight than adults. Kids don’t always recognize the early stages of thirst, which can make them particularly vulnerable to becoming dehydrated, especially during times that can drive up their body fluid losses, for example when they are playing sport or during warm weather. Dehydration, even if only mild, can cause tiredness, headaches, lack of concentration, reduced mental performance and dry skin.
Spring Reminders - Dress Code
- No flip-flops, backless sandals, high heels, wedges, etc. They inhibit play outside, and are not safe on school stairs.
- No spaghetti straps. Bellies and backs may not be exposed by shirts that creep up and pants that sag. Sleeveless shirt straps should be three fingers wide.
- Shorts and skirts must be must be at least fingertip length.
- Shirts with negative messages undermine our school-wide goal of respect for self, others, our community, and are not allowed.
Warm weather also means that our students start to ride bikes, skateboards, and scooters to school. Please remember that all children must wear helmets, and bikes need to be locked!
