Academic Excellence

Second Six Weeks

We are about to enter our second six weeks. We are going full force with learning so much in all our classes. Every teacher offers tutorials before or after school. Please see our website for our full schedule of tutorials. We also provide tutoring services during all lunches. If your student has any questions concerning post secondary plans, they may go to our College and Career Center every day during lunch for assistance.

PTO Membership

Have you joined our PTO? Is your son or daughter a senior who wants to be eligible for local scholarships? Then for $10 per parent and $5 per student you can help give back to our schools. Plus, many scholarships come through our PTO where members are eligible to apply. This is a great opportunity to help our students!! http://www.emsisd.com/cms/lib/TX21000533/Centricity/Domain/2464/PTO%20201516.pdf

College and Career Center:

The TCC Cornerstone Program provides opportunities for highly motivated students to become a part of an intellectually stimulating community. A wide range of students can achieve a high level of academic excellence and increase their opportunities for scholarships at four-year institutions. For more information regarding the Cornerstone program visit https://www.tccd.edu/Courses_and_Programs/Honors_Program/ .

The TCC College Access program is designed to help spread awareness of the programs available at TCC and help students through the process of beginning their coursework at the college. Students who are interested in TCC will be guided through the admissions process during the school year. TCC College Access representatives will be on campus at different times during the first semester of student’s senior year to guide them through the application process, testing, and advisement.

We are giving the ASVAB Friday, October 2 to all students who registered.

On October 14, we will be giving the PSAT to all 10th graders and to any ninth or eleventh graders who registered.

On October 14, any junior who is not taking the PSAT will be taking the TSI- College entrance exam for TCC.

Senior Information

This is the latest information concerning seniors.

Seniors will be meeting on September 29 the last 20 minutes of their lunches to get information about their cap and gowns. All information will be posted on our website and can be picked up in the house principal office.

We will have our first large senior student meeting on October 14, 2015 during the school day. While the other grade levels are taking the PSAT/TSI/and Writing benchmark, seniors will have a College Day on campus where we will discuss senior pictures, yearbook ads, ordering cap/gown, prom, senior checklist for the year, and visit college booths to gain information about admittance, scholarships, FAFSA, etc.
