MES NEWS
Welcome Back!!! It's going to be a great year!
MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT - Monday, August 3
We kick the new school year off with Meet The Teacher Night on Monday, August 3, 2015. This will also be the time for paying book bills, depositing money in your child’s lunch account and/or applying for book/lunch assistance. Your visit will begin in the gym where you can take care of these back-to-school chores while you wait for your “Meet the Teacher” session to begin.
We urge you to arrive early so you can get everything taken care of before your session. You certainly won’t want to be late because a new and very important part of the evening will be the introduction to the Chromebook/iPad your child will be using in the 2015-16 school year. You’ll learn all about it and how your child will use it during your “Meet the Teacher” session which will begin in the cafeteria at these times:
● G1 at 5:45 p.m. ● G2 at 6:10 p.m. ● G3 at 6:30 p.m. ● G4 at 6:50 p.m. ● G5 at 7:10 p.m.
After your visit in the classroom, we ask that you exit the building through the doors in your child’s classroom area because another session of the technology portion of the evening will be meeting in the cafeteria. If you need to finish up business in the gym, we ask that you re-enter the building in the front or slip quietly through the cafeteria and down the hallway by the pool.
We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to visit school, find your child’s new classroom and meet the teacher. This is a great opportunity to get your child’s school year off to a good start by establishing the line of communication between home and school. You are also welcome to bring your child's school supplies to their classroom that night so they won't have so much to carry on the first day of school.
Kindergarten Students "Meet The Teacher" at Kindergarten Orientation, Monday, August 3
Kindergarten students and parents will meet their teachers on Monday, August 3, during their orientation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Orientation will last about one hour; after which you will have an opportunity to pay book fees and deposit money into your child’s lunch account.
This is considered to be your child’s first day of school and it is very important that your child attend this informative session to ensure a smooth beginning of his/her school career. If a parent cannot attend with the child, a grandparent, caregiver or other responsible adult should accompany them as a lot of important information is distributed. We respectfully request that siblings and other family members do not accompany you and your child; extra visitors make it too crowded in the classrooms.
Kindergarten students will begin their first full day of school on Wednesday, August 5. School begins at 8:00 a.m. each morning and the day ends at 2:54 p.m. Early dismissals on Wednesday afternoons will continue this year so plan for your child to come home a half-hour earlier that day and every Wednesday during the school year.
Milan Schools Launches the new EZ-Pay System - Parents can now pay school bills or deposit lunch money online using a credit or debit card!
Parents who use the on-line system must first create an account. You will receive a letter with your student ID number which you will need when creating your account. Please be assured that no personal information about your child is available online and your credit card information is not kept on file so you will be asked to re-enter your card information each time you use the system.
We will have computers set up in the gym for the convenience of those parents who wish to take advantage of the EZ-Pay system before or after your "Meet the Teacher" session on August 3. A staff member will be on hand to help with creating an account and answering any questions you may have. Of course, if you prefer to pay with cash or a check, you may certainly do so at the Book Rental Table.
Our PTO needs your help to "pack the bus" with school supplies!
They've arranged for a bus to be parked in front of the school on Meet The Teacher Night and they're asking your help to fill it with donations of school supplies. Especially needed are red pens, pencils, 24 packs of Crayons (Crayola preferred), black "Expo" brand dry-erase markers, and Clorox wipes.
This drive will end on August 7. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated!
Our PTO will provide every student and staff member with a free MES t-shirt!
We can't wait to see the gym filled with students sporting their new shirts on our first "Black & Gold" day! Thank you MES PTO!!
