Our Learning Targets
Writing: We can write poems, in a variety of formats, that include sensory details and conventions of poetry. We can elaborate in our writing by including adjectives and adverbs
Social Studies: We can identify and compare ways of life for American Indian groups in Texas.
Math: We can interpret the value of each place-value position as 10 times the position to the right and as one-tenth of the value of the place to its left.
We can determine products of a number and 10 or 100 using properties of operations and place value understandings. (These learning targets are looking for deeper understanding of place value and our number system than "you just add a zero".)
Science: We will be able to compare and contrast a variety of mixtures, including solutions.
LISD is in need of some HEROES!
River Place Elementary is looking for mentors to participate in the Leander ISD HEROES Mentoring Program. This program matches volunteers from the community
with students to form a mentor-mentee relationship. A HEROES mentor is another supporting adult who takes an active interest in the life of a student.
Please fill out the application if you are interested and plan on attending one of the two training dates listed below. If you are not able to attend either
of these dates or if you would like more information you can contact Shannon Lombardo, the District Mentor Coordinator, at shannon.lombardo@leanderisd.org.
You can also contact Kim Box, the Campus Mentor Coordinator at kim.box@leanderisd.org or (512) 570-6916.

Understanding Different Perspectives
It is possible for different people to feel differently about the same situation.
Being able to understand that others have different perspectives is an important part of empathy.
