Hansen Weekly Update
March 18, 2022
Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!
We hope that everyone has had a great week and is enjoying our beautiful, warm weather today! The last of our snow is nearly gone, and we are ready to turn the page on winter and welcome in spring next week!
There is lots to be excited about at the Hansen! Our students and staff continue to engage in some really wonderful learning, and our students also had a fun week participating in the Book Fair. Thank you to our awesome CAPT for coordinating and volunteering so much time and energy in support of our students this week. Thank you, as well, to the parent and guardian volunteers that assisted our students in their book shopping throughout the week....we could not do this without you!
Also, our school Boosterthon is fast approaching, with the donation window opening today! This is always a bright spot in the year for our students, and please be sure to read more about this further below in this week's update.
Please enjoy some of this weeks' Hansen highlights through the pictures below...
Creating A Culture of Achievement, Equity, Inspiration, and Joy!
Monday, March 21 Is World Down Syndrome Day
For anyone that is interested in more information about World Down Syndrome Day, please take a moment to review their website here.
Supporting Ukraine
The Hansen school is delighted to be doing a fundraiser for Ukraine from now until March 25th. The money we collect will be donated to Americares to help pay for the things the Ukrainians need to keep living. You can donate at Ms.Mahan’s classroom, Room 203, or the main office. We have a sign out in the front telling about the cause. Our goal is to raise $500 or more.
You can send in checks, coins, or cash. Checks should be made out to Americares, the charity we are donating to. Some people may say $500 is just like a penny, but every penny counts. It doesn’t matter how much you give, it will always be more than they have.
Americares is already helping the people fleeing from Ukraine by providing clothes, food, and supplies for their survival. We started to do this fundraiser because if someone needs help we want to step in and do what's right because we all have kind hearts. Please help Ukraine in a hard time by donating. We really want to help and support Ukraine. If there is someone in need we are there to help because it is important to help people in need. We really appreciate how you took your time listening. It is really important to us.
THANK YOU AND REMEMBER EVERY AMOUNT COUNTS
Boosterthon!
Lt Peter M Hansen families!
We are 10 days away from kicking off our Hansen Fun Run on 3/28. Our goal is to raise $17,000 for field trips and enrichment programs.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN!
We want all families to help our school by registering on mybooster.com today and enter your family’s details. We would like to see 75% of our whole school registered. If we reach that goal by fun run day, our whole school gets a PAJAMA DAY!
Today, donating officially opened on mybooster.com, and you can support our school in 3 steps:
1. REGISTER your student(s) on mybooster.com today. It takes 30 seconds!
2. SHARE with 5 family/friends using the SHARE tools on mybooster.com (Facebook, Text Message or Email). Students can earn rewards just for sharing from mybooster.com.
3. GIVE a donation if you are able to give.
If your family feels it’s not in the position to financially support the school, that’s ok. Families can actually support our school by also SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and family online. Sharing IS supporting.
PLUS, just by registering and sharing your pledge link, you earn entries into the DISNEY GRAND PRIZE SWEEPSTAKES 🎉 Learn more once you register on MYBOOSTER.COM for how you could win an all-expenses paid trip to Disney for your family!
We are working hard to make this fundraiser safe, fun, and successful for everyone!
Every share and donation makes a difference! And, don’t forget…
• All students get to participate in the fun run day, regardless of financial participation
• Students will experience an incredible character development program. They’ll be learning about the importance of curiosity, confidence, humility, practice and endurance by following along with Sports City Worldwide! Check out the trailer here:

Hansen Robotics/STEAM Club
Registration for the Spring session of the Hansen Robotics/STEAM Club is open now through March 23. This after school club will be available for grades 2 and 3 on Tuesday afternoons and for grades 4 and 5 on Thursday afternoons. Space is limited for the 7 week session and preference will be given to students who have not attended a previous session this year. A lottery will be used if there are more new sign ups than available spots.
Update From Nurse Bethany
Please remember to dress your child in layers! Spring mornings can often start off cool and get warmer as the day progresses. Dressing them in a t-shirt under a long sleeved sweatshirt or hoodie so your child can remove or add clothing during the day is advisable. Also, bringing in an extra set of clothes is helpful for when outdoor play becomes messy.
