Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!
Hello Spring Road Families: Teacher Appreciation Week is the week of May 2nd through May 6th. We have special activities planned for the week. Thank you for all of your generosity in gift card and monetary donations. The festivities are as follows: Monday, May 2nd-Teachers will have extra prep while parents supervise children from 2:30-3:00. A snack will be provided for teachers during this time as well. WE ARE IN NEED OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO SUPERVISE STUDENTS DURING THIS TIME. Please email Jenni Oeftger if you are able to help supervise the recess, jennit@uwalumni.com. Tuesday, May 3rd-Qdoba's catered in for lunch Wednesday, May 4th-Wear your Teacher’s Favorite Color Dress Up Day!! Your child’s teacher will share this information with you or you can find this information on the Teachers’ Favorite page on the Spring Road PTO website. Teachers will also get to try their luck with the gift card punch board. Thursday, May 5th-Snack Cart for Teachers, Cinco de Mayo themed Friday, May 6th-Gelato for lunch dessert Throughout the week, students and families are encouraged to share notes or pictures of appreciation for all staff members who have made a difference for you personally. - Mrs. Hickey (Library/Media Assistant)- is retiring
- Mrs. Messner (5th Grade Teacher)- moving to 6th grade at Horace Mann
- Mrs. Melzer (5th Grade Teacher)- accepted a position with the Boys and Girls Club in Appleton
- Mrs. Jones (4th Grade Teacher)- moving to 5th grade at Spring Road (will be looping with her class)
- Mrs. Eraas (English Learner Educational Assistant)- accepted a teaching position effective immediately
- Mrs. Gutschow (Special Education Educational Assistant)- accepted the Health Assistant position at Spring Road
- Mrs. Gross (Special Education Educational Assistant)- moving to Horace Mann
- Mrs. Grassl (Special Education Educational Assistant)- accepted the Educational Assistant position at Spring Road
- Mrs. Simonis- accepted the Library/Media Educational Assistant position at Spring Road/Clayton.
- Mrs. Baumler- accepted the English Learner Educational Assistant position beginning in September

Bike Safety Awareness Day- May 4th
Wednesday, May 4th is National Bike To School Day. It is a day to draw attention to biking and keeping our kids safe on their bikes.
Here are some safe tips to share with your child(ren):
- Protect your head and always wear a helmet.
- Bicycles must follow the rules of the road like all other vehicles.
- Ride on the right side of the road single file.
- Look left, then right, then left again before crossing the street.
- Do the ABC Quick Check before riding:
B=Brakes
C=Chain

We would love to have more families involved in our organization!
Because of the Rabbit Celebration
- The Bunny Hop and Hopscotch
- A simulation of a visual impairment
- A station that focused on our sense of hearing
- An art station in which students made their own bunny ears
- A read aloud station, Just Ask, which taught students about various disabilities
- A Kahoot book quiz
In addition to these stations, we also had three bunnies in our courtyard for the students to see (thank you Cavanaugh Carriages!)
A huge thank you to the this committee for planning such a great interactive learning day!
