Home of the SAGE Illuminators!
Portrait of Graduate and Illuminator's Mindset
Each month, we are introducing a different North Kansas City Portrait of a Graduate Competency. Throughout October we have recognized and celebrated EMPATHY. Our next competency is COLLABORATION. Collaboration reminds us to honor and leverage strengths of group members to build collective commitment and action. Collaboration enriches the learning of both self and others.
Illuminators first gain these basic skills as they develop the competency of collaboration:
- Recognizing individual strengths and using those to contribute to a team.
- Asking for needs and wants during an activity or project.
- Taking turns and waiting patiently.
- Identifying and using the strengths of others.
- Providing and receiving constructive feedback.
Learning to work with others increases students’ sense of belonging and increases the quality and depth of their work. At SAGE this ties to our networking strand in Illuminator’s Mindset. We will be celebrating NETWORKING for the month November and December.
