2020-2021 Class Placement
In the midst of all of the HEC happenings, behind the scenes our staff is actively planning for next school year. We will accept emails from parents that help guide class placement for next year in order to ensure your child is in the best learning environment possible.
Parents may submit an email to Melanie Harris that lists special characteristics of your child or teacher qualities that would best suit your child's needs. All letters must be submitted to Melanie Harris, Assistant Principal, by Friday, May 15, 2020.
Please note that letters may not request an individual teacher. Letters that request an individual teacher by name or are received after Friday, May 15th will not be honored.
Thank you for your understanding so that our team can make the best placement possible for your child.
The Importance of SUMMER READING
The Importance of SUMMER READING
From the HEC Media Specialist and Literacy Coach
Summer is the time that children can lose much of what was learned over the school year if they do not continue to read while not in school.
Research has consistently documented the importance of summer reading. Students who read recreationally during the summer do better when the new school year begins. Reading just four or five books during the summer can help prevent learning loss.
To help your child return to school prepared to move forward in reading, we are providing a Summer Reading packet with incentives. There will be a reading celebration after Labor Day for those who read and turned in the packet by the due date of September 4th.
