In the Classroom
Our class provided a good for other students to buy and make- a snowflake ornament!
Our class purchased a good from Mrs. Basta's class-Ho Ho Ho Trail Mix!
Our class purchased a service from Mrs. Steffen's class- a Sing-a-long Movie!
Learning This Week
Reading- This week students will ask and answer questions before, during, and after a fiction story. Student will also retell important important events and the central message in a fiction story. By the end of first grade, students should be able to describe characters, setting, major events, and central message using key details and illustrations.
Writing- This week students will write narrative stories about themselves. Students can choose from many different themes, including Christmas. By the end of first grade students should be able to write narrative stories with sequenced events, details, transitional words, and a closure.
Math- Students will continue exploring place value concepts, including comparing numbers. By the end of first grade, students should be able to read, write and represent 2-digit numbers as tens and ones.
Social Studies- This week students are traveling the world to learn about how children in different countries celebrate Christmas!
Last week's class attendance: 97.09%
Our attendance goal for Sweeny is 96% or higher attendance. In our classroom, we are trying to earn an attendance celebration. Every day that we have 100% attendance we earn a letter. When we spell "perfect attendance," we will celebrate! "If you're not at school, you're not learning!"
December- 22 Polar Express Day- Wear your pajamas!
December 23- Winter Break Begins
January 5- Students return to Sweeny!
Now-February 25th- Box Top Contest (Send in your box tops to earn money for our school!)
Monday is always spirit day! Wear your black and orange!
