CISD Approves 2020-2021 School Calendar

The CISD Board of Trustees has approved the 2020-2021 calendar. For your planning purposes, please download the calendar here.

We thank you in advance for planning all vacations and travel outside of the school calendar. When students are absent, they miss valuable instruction that takes place daily. In addition to the loss of that instructional time, Texas schools are rated not only on academic performance, but also on student attendance. Daily attendance plays a large role in our accountability rating from the state.

We appreciate your support in this matter, and look forward to a great school year!

Visit to order Galatas clothing items until January 31. Shirts will be delivered by February 14, and all sales are final.

Attendance Boundary Committee Community Opportunities

As the CISD Attendance Boundary Committee continues to work toward zoning recommendations, community members are invited to two events: a Feedback Come-and-Go-Event and a Zoning Recommendation Community Presentation. There are several opportunities to attend each meeting, so that you may attend the one most convenient for you and your family. Please see below for the meeting times.

Illnesses and Absences

As cold and flu season arrives, many experts believe that these illnesses are spread by droplets made when people cough, sneeze, or talk. These droplets can land in your mouth or nose if you are near a sick person. You may also get sick by touching a surface or object that has the droplets/virus on it and then touching your own mouth. Frequent and thorough hand washing is a must to help prevent the illness from spreading from one student to another. If your child is sick, please have them stay home, and rest. If they come back to school too early, they can relapse and end up missing even more school.

If your child has a fever of 100 or higher, he or she must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine before they can return to school. When your student will be absent for any reason, please call our attendance line (936-709-5014) or the front office (936-709-5000) before 9:00 a.m. every day he or she is absent. You may also email our registrar, Robin Curtis, at to report the absence. Thank you!
