COVID- 19 SYMPTOM SELF-SCREENING

While we are no longer doing a daily screener, all staff and families must screen for CoVID-19 symptoms regularly. Please be aware of the symptoms below prior to sending yourself or your children to school. In addition, students must stay at home if another individual in the home is symptomatic. It is also important to note that we only accept PCR COVID tests and not rapid antigen. Please call the office with questions and we are happy to help navigate a safe plan for students to return to school. Thank You!

Counselor's Corner

Welcome back! We are excited for the upcoming school year and want your child to be as successful as possible at school. Teachers will be using the Second Step program in your child’s classroom to teach critical social emotional learning skills.

The Second Step program teaches skills in the following four areas:

1. Skills for Learning: Students gain skills to help themselves learn, including how
to focus their attention, listen carefully, use self-talk to stay on task, and be
assertive when asking for help with schoolwork.

2. Empathy: Students learn to identify and understand their own and others’
feelings. Students also learn how to take another’s perspective and how to
show compassion.

3. Emotion Management: Students learn specific skills for calming down when
experiencing strong feelings, such as anxiety or anger.

4. Problem Solving: Students learn a process for solving problems with others in a
positive way.

Lessons often include Home Links which are simple, fun activities for you and your child to complete together. They are a great way for you to understand what your child is learning and for your child to share what he or she has learned during the Second Step lesson at school.

VOLUNTEER PROCEDURES

We will be welcoming instruction-based visitors/volunteers to our campus per the Eagle Start Guide. In addition to our background check requirements, guests to campus will also be required to complete a C-19 Waiver. Access to campus is subject to change. Note that at this time, we will not have lunchtime visitors or classroom party volunteers.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR ALL GUEST TO THE BUILDING

During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign-in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERS

During the school day, all volunteers are expected to sign in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer opportunity, all volunteers must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days prior to the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee* for the full background check which will expire after 5 years. The link to apply for the full background check can be accessed on the Volunteers/BRAVO link on the ZCS main webpage. For more information, contact the Volunteer/BRAVO Coordinator.

COVID WAVIER

The linked document is the Covid Volunteer Waiver, which is new this year. This form must be filled out by every guest who enters our building. This is NOT a one-time form as it must be filled out every time a guest visits our school. You may print and bring this to the office with you or complete a copy when you arrive.
