Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
THANK YOU for supporting FOOD FIGHT 2022 with donations of food and paper products, to benefit FROM’s Food Pantry! Your generous donations were picked up and delivered to Flat River Outreach this week and they are so very thankful to re-stock their shelves.
As we finish up this last week of school, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for your children to keep academically involved over the summer. Each year it is typical for us to see a drop in academic levels for many students following the summer break. Students who continue to read frequently and work on math activities (www.reflexmath, www.sumdog.com, and www.ixl.com, are a few math sites I would recommend) over the summer are much more likely to avoid a summer drop in achievement levels. Remember, our library will be open for Arrow Readers on the Move. Make sure to sign up for this on our website. Please try to set some goals with your child regarding how much reading and/or math practice he/she will do over the summer. Just a few hours each week can have a profound impact.
Don’t forget to check out all of the summer camps that are taking place this summer. There are many great sports camps to choose from. Go to https://www.lowellsportscamps.com/ to sign up! Deadline is May 20th if you want to ensure receiving a t-shirt.
We have just a few more days left as this school year winds down to close. Our first grade students had the opportunity to visit Cherry Creek this week, take a tour of the building, check out the classrooms and playground and meet Mr. Veldman, Cherry Creek principal. I think they are ready for the next step in their education!
This coming week we have grade level picnics and our Day of
Awesomeness- cross your fingers that the weather will be nice!
We are again running Arrows on the Move this summer. It is a free program and allows you to bring your student to our school libraries all over the district throughout the summer. Lowell’s Englehardt Library will also be teaming up with us this summer as well. It is so important to keep your child reading throughout the summer, and if you don’t make it a goal, it is easy to let the reading slip. Please consider signing your child up for this. I am also encouraging our students to access IXL online throughout the summer.
There are flyers in the links below with information for youth football, youth cheer and our Arrow Readers program this Summer!
