Principal's Message
I hope that everyone has had a terrific week and looking forward to a nice weekend. This week I reflected upon my own attitude and behaviors at home and around my kids. As parents, our kids take on a lot of the beliefs and behaviors that we model as parents. If we think something is a big deal, they think something is a big deal. If we show a positive outlook, they show a positive outlook and so on and so forth. I have the following quote on the home screen of my phone and it serves as a good reminder to me each and every day.
"A father said to his son: Be careful where you walk. The son responded: You be careful for remember that I follow your footsteps!"
Enjoy your weekend.
Andy

Blocksi
Parents, did you know that you have access to BLOCKSI? Blocksi is a tool provided by Dublin City Schools for use on any district provided Chromebook. Teachers use Blocksi in school and you can use it at home, too!
Blocksi allows parents to:
• Enforce bedtime and access control on streaming media, social media, Youtube, gaming and other time addictive content.• Use of the school-enforced policy when the Chromebook is at home by restricting specific online content.
• View web history and analyze trends of your child’s internet browsing activity and get warned when blocked content is accessed.
Any parent/guardian with an email on file with the district can open their Blocksi account. Click here for additional details.
School vandalism & Tik Tok
I want to make you aware of a disappointing TikTok trend occurring at Grizzell and other middle schools across the country. Over the past few days, several of our bathrooms have been vandalized with students removing soap dispensers from the walls and spraying it onto the floor. This creates a very slippery surface and students are not able to wash their hands because of the lack of soap, which causes concern due to COVID-19. This has been done based on videos circulating on the app Tik Tok: https://www.newsweek.com/tiktok-devious-licks-trend-stolen-items-school-1628463 We have done our best to find the students and deal with the behavior and consequences have been handed down to those involved. I am asking for your help to discuss this with your child and encourage them not to engage and if they see something, say something.
Although the destruction at our building is much less than many others in the area, I am still embarrassed by the behavior and choices of this small group of students which is impacting the many. This is not who we are or what we are about at Grizzell Middle School. We are going to enjoy and take care of our building for our current students and those who are going to be at Grizzell in the years to come. I appreciate your help and support.

GMS Clubs Are Up and Running!
Our clubs are ready to begin here at Grizzell! Please take a look at the information below which outlines how clubs will operate this school year. Clubs are a great way for students to connect with peers and their school. I encourage each of you to try at least 1 club this year. It could be something that you enjoy or something that you would like to learn more about. If you have any questions about clubs, please contact Mr. Hull at hull_jim@dublinschools.net.
Have a great day!
Mr. Wilkinson
How do clubs work at Grizzell for the 2021/2022 school year?
Basically, there are 2 types of clubs at Grizzell.
The first type of club are those that only have a Schoology group. These clubs provide the opportunity for students to meet virtually and carry on conversations related to their topic of interest. These clubs are not required to have a teacher advisor.
The second type of club are those that have both a Schoology group and meet face to face at Grizzell. These clubs provide opportunities for virtual conversations and live interaction. These clubs must have a teacher advisor who will organize the face-to-face meetings. If you would like a club to be on this level, you will need to ask one of our teachers if they are willing to be an advisor.
How do I see what clubs are currently at Grizzell for the 2021/2022 school year?
There are two ways to see all the clubs and groups Grizzell has to offer. This directory offers descriptions and Schoology groups of most of our larger clubs. Click HERE for a list of current clubs at Grizzell!
Discover more about Grizzell’s clubs and smaller interest groups by browsing “Groups” in Schoology under Groups-School Groups for more information.

DISTRICT NEWS
Social-Emotional Learning and Dublin City Schools
Student well-being is one of the District’s top priorities.
In the coming weeks (Sept. 27-Oct. 6), we plan to administer a social-emotional learning (SEL) questionnaire to students in grades 3-12. SEL describes the mindsets, attitudes, and feelings that help students succeed in school, career and life, such as growth mindset, self-efficacy and sense of belonging. These results will help us better understand ways we can support students' social and emotional needs. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.
We want your feedback!
Please share your thoughts and ideas with us using our new tool called ThoughtExchange. If you already provided us with thoughts, you can return to rate the thoughts of others! Click here to participate.
Flu shots available
Again this school year, Dublin City Schools is providing students in grades K-12 with the opportunity to receive flu shots at their school. You can find the schedule and the permission form here.
Please fill out sections two through 10 on the form and the insurance information on the reverse side, and return it to your school clinic by Sept. 22.
Questions? We can help!
The communications department has created a “who to contact” page for the public in an effort to direct questions to the individuals who can provide the most complete and timely answers. View the Who to Contact page.
The Dublin City Schools Zone Podcast - New episodes available every Monday
