Summer 2019
Humanitas Magnet for Interdisciplinary Studies
It was nice to see you at New Student Orientation!
We loved meeting so many of you at orientation on May 16! If you weren't able to attend, please read through the information packet. You can always email me with your questions or concerns.
Summer Assignment
Our summer assignment has a few different purpose.
1. It will keep you thinking during your time off from school.
2. It will provide your new teachers with a glimpse into your learning and writing styles.
3. It will give our students some shared experiences that we can build on once school starts.
You will turn your work into your English teacher during the first week of school.
Do you need to complete an enrollment packet?
You only need to complete an enrollment packet if you are coming from outside the district or a charter school. You do not need to complete an enrollment packet if you are coming from an LAUSD middle school.
If you need to pick up or drop off a packet, please stop by the Grant High School attendance office.
Important Dates
July 27
Join us for an evening under the stars at the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival. This event can be used as part of your summer assignment, but mostly it's just fun! And completely optional.
August 15
Grant High School will hold orientation for all new students and their parents. You'll learn all about Grant High School and meet the administrators and coaches.
August 16
The annual freshman picnic is just for incoming 9th graders. We encourage you to attend. You'll be able to pick up your textbooks and class schedule as well.
