February is Black History Month

The Equity and Inclusivity Steering Committee's Events Team has prepared resources to celebrate Black History Month. Elementary schools will share a book with students during their scheduled library time. Some classes will have members of Whitney High's Black Student Union read the book. Additionally, the team prepared morning announcement messages for all schools.

At Sunset Ranch we welcomed author, Crystel Patterson, here to share her books about being our own special selves, positive self-talk, and building others up. We sure appreciated her messages and enjoyed celebrating our own uniqueness and individual strengths.

PBIS Reward Event- So much fun was had at the Snowball Fight!

Students saved up their Golden Pawsitives to cash them in for a ticket to attend this special PBIS event with Mrs. Kircher!

Fat Cat Bakery Cookie Dough Fundraiser- ORDER NOW!

Our 6th grade students are selling Fat Cat Bakery Cookie Dough as a fundraiser for their upcoming Science Camp trip. Please order through a 6th grade student or swing by the office for an order form.

Orders are due by Tuesday, February 13th.

Appointments

If your experience is anything like mine, getting a medical or dental appointment these days is like pulling teeth (pun intended)! Therefore, we understand that sometimes there is no choice but to schedule appointments during school hours. However, if possible, please do your best to schedule appointments after school or... if during school, please plan on bringing students before or back after their appointment if at all possible. Time in their learning environment is precious!

Guest Teachers (Substitutes) Needed!

As all districts continue to experience substitute teacher shortages, Senate Bill (SB) 1397, temporarily waiving the Basic Skills Requirement for the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, becomes effective January 1, 2023.

From January 1, 2023, to July 1, 2024, the Basic Skills Requirement is waived for the issuance of the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit. This change means that candidates who wish to obtain an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit will only need to provide official transcripts showing the conferral of a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

If you know of any individuals who are interested in substitute teaching and have a 4-year degree but do not have a permit, please encourage them to apply to the Rocklin Unified School District EDJOIN posting (EDJOIN posting). The Human Resource Team will assist these applicants in the process of obtaining an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit.
