A message from our principal
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I spoke to the children this morning about resolutions for the New Year. Real change in our lives actually happens most reliably when it comes from our deepest desires (Creighton Univ. Daily Reflections).
We usually do what we want to do and rarely to what we don’t want to do. The secret to change is reform our desires. It is the process of getting to know Jesus and being closer to him. When we fall in love with someone, our desires change. We need to continue to love Jesus and with that love for Him, our desires change. By changing this desire, we lead others to Jesus.
Peace in Christ,
Dr. John Shreve

TEXAS CATHOLIC CONFERENCE OF BISHOPS
Each legislative session, the Texas Catholic Conference has actively worked to pass school choice legislation. Last session, we came closer than ever before, passing a school choice tax credit plan in the Senate and getting a third of the members of the Texas House to sign on (ultimately a vote was never taken). To keep that momentum going we need your help to build on the progress we have made so far.
On January 24, 2017, the Texas Catholic Conference is joining with many advocacy partners in sponsoring a kid-friendly School Choice rally at the State Capitol in Austin. We would like to have a great turnout of Catholic school students, in uniform, attending the event. There will be marching bands, dancing, live music, and opportunities to hear from statewide elected officials.
This is a voluntary outing and not a required school field trip. However, it will be an excused absence if you wish to bring your child / children. If you are interested in attending this special event, please contact Dr. Shreve at (817) 737-4201.
30th Annual Pot O' Gold
The Pot O Gold is just around the corner! This year we're taking it back to the Roarin' 20's and "Let's Party Like Gatsby!" It will be held on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. at Ridglea Country Club. For more information, please contact Melodi Thompson, POG Chair, or Maria Orand, POG Co-Chair. Reservations are due Feb. 13.
Distinguished Alumni
This year we are proud to honor the Pastors of Holy Family Catholic Church. In attendance will be Father Joe Scantlin, Father Joe Pemberton, and Father Jeff Poirot.
Sports fans and travelers needed! We are collecting donations such as air miles, use of vacation homes or hunting leases, tickets to local music and sporting events, and other items of value for the live auction. Additional information will be included in the Parent Packets, which will be sent home with the students Jan. 9.
Raffle Tickets are for sale now! Proceeds will help purchase new iPads. Contact Lisa Phillips or Vonne Velez for more information.
Wine Pull - Bottles valued at $15 or more are due at the school office by Jan. 25. Contact Imelda Morales for more information.

Volunteer opportunities
Catholic Schools Week. Speakers, tour guides and more are needed to help with HFCS Open House. Parents, alumni and 8th Grade students will be providing tours and speaking at Mass. Volunteers are also needed to set up and serve for the Hospitality Weekend on Jan. 22, as well as Jan. 28-29. Training will be provided for those interested in serving as tour guides at the January HSA and Advisory Council meetings. Please contact Trisha Klement to volunteer.
Altar Cloth Sewing. Each classroom has an altar with various religious articles displayed. Altar cloths in the colors of the liturgical year are included, and we need red and white cloths sewn. We are in need of red and white, should you have any extra you could donate. Please contact Trisha Klement to donate or volunteer. If you are in need of a sewing machine, there is one available to borrow.
Copy Room Assistants. The staff members will fill out a print request and attach the originals that need to be copied. The volunteer(s) will make their copies and place the papers in the staff member's designated tray. We are looking for volunteers for any days Monday - Friday, and hoping for a morning and an afternoon volunteer. Training on the copy machine will be provided.
HSA Secretary. Attend monthly meetings, take notes and type them up and write any thank you notes for the association.
Lunchroom Monitors. Assist during lunch from 11 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. We need help on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and every other Friday.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please email Ann Bjelland or text (817) 925-3279 unless otherwise noted.
