Titan Library Newsletter
2013-2014 First Six Weeks Wrap-Up
Trying out Smore
This is Titan Library's first newsletter. Thanks for checking it out! It has been created using www.smore.com, a website I discovered on a library list serv. After taking a look at the site, I thought it would be great for both classroom and library use. I am hoping to keep a newsletter going throughout the year, updating students and teachers on library events, cool (free!) web 2.0 tools, and more.
Memorable Moments
BRIGHT Summer Reader Events
18 BRIGHT Summer Readers were honored at a breakfast in the library. The top reader from each grade level was invited to attend the annual BRIGHT Summer Reader awards ceremony at San Juan Middle School's auditorium.
Author Visit with Malin Alegria
Author Malin Alegria visited with about 25 students in late September. She discussed her book Estrella's Quinceanera and her new Border Town series. Students enjoyed her outgoing personality. Authors Rene Saldana Jr. and Guadalupe Garcia McCall also made an appearance.
TSTEM Students Attend ATBF13
In late September, 8 students took part in the Austin Teen Book Festival. They met over 40 young adult authors, attended inspirational panel discussions, and even enjoyed a bit of the "weird" Austin community at the annual Pecan Festival on 6th Street. With their neon shirts, PSJA students were literally the "highlight" of the festival, and they were featured in Publisher's Weekly!
