Aksum
East Africa
What makes Aksum better?
Aksum is one of the mightiest African civilizations. One reason for this is that humans evolve here and the environment is well suited for a foraging way of life. Agriculture in Aksum evolves around the Fertile Crescent which causes foraging to be very popular. But our knowledge here has grown to a greater level and we now have plant domestication, domestic animals, and trade. We were set back agricultural and it started us at 100B.C.
Food sources
Most of our food is produced from farming and our animals that we have domesticated. A few of our popular crops are Finger millet, noog, and esete. https://books.google.com/books?id=Bkm4ah68rqkC&pg=PA147&dq=ancient+Aksum+food&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CCEQ6AEwAWoVChMI85XNpqGRyAIVBFWSCh0Olwwx#v=onepage&q=%20Aksum%20food&f=false
Domesticated animals
Ox is our most common domesticated animal and it is mainly used for a food source. Also cattle is a food income and donkeys play a role in our transportation.
Trade
Aksum’s location and expansion is a hub for caravan routes to Egypt and Meroë. Access to sea trade on the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean helps Aksum become an international trading power. http://jmcentarfer.tripod.com/ch8_3.pdf
The Aksumite traditionally believe in one god. We call our god Mahrem and believe that our king is directly descended from him. We are also animists, however, and worship the spirits of nature and honor our dead ancestors.
