ED FUND SHOUT OUT: A huge thanks to our amazing parent and staff volunteers who worked so hard to prepare the online silent auction! Please join me in thanking the following individuals: Christina Heil, Dina Warshavsky, Laura Prentiss, Amy Chang, Dana Snyder, Alicia Allyn, Nina Voss, Kelly Bowes, Crissi Armstrong, Lauren Cymerys, Erin Myers, Joann Yang, Bridget Williams, Meredith Maffeo, Monina Salazar, Roberto Bonilla, Gayle Hughey and Janice Hildreth.
Thank you to our bidders, donors, partners, sponsors, and direct donation supporters! We are proud to report that, together, we exceeded our goal of $12,500 by 35%. All funds raised will go toward maintaining the Alamo Education Fund’s critical programs: music, art, paraprofessionals (teacher aides), reading and math support, and social-emotional learning. We couldn’t have done this without our extraordinarily engaged community of parents, family members, teachers, administration, alumni, neighbors, volunteers and local businesses. Thank you again to the incredible community of Alamo Nation!
A shout out to our partners and sponsors including Quiltlove and Dr. Cuenin as well as our in-kind donors (click link for complete list): https://aes-srvusd-ca.schoolloop.com/onlinethankyou

Advocacy Day for Education 2021: Moving Forward with Resiliency
Please join the San Ramon Valley Council, Pleasanton Council and Las Trampas Council for Advocacy Day 2021: Moving Forward with Resiliency. The first Advocacy Day took place in 1980, prompted by the passage of Proposition 13 and its anticipated negative impact on education. Today, Advocacy Day serves as a vehicle to both influence our legislators and inform our PTA volunteers and community members. Four decades of advocacy have focused on issues of finance, education reform, class size, standardized testing, special needs and children’s health issues. This year is different.
Undeniably, the pandemic has greatly impacted the schools and the health of our families and communities. For exactly one year we have faced uncertainty on a daily basis and the challenge of not knowing what the future holds for our students and schools. This year Advocacy Day will focus on “Moving Forward with Resiliency.” We will have the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of our school superintendents and state legislators. A panel of highly respected frontline medical and mental health experts will share the most current information and recommendations. The equity issues at play will be addressed by both educators and corporate professionals.
Together we will advocate directly to our legislators for the education of all our children. More information and registration will be published in the coming weeks at SRVCouncilPTA.org.

Monday's Assemblies - Our First Virtual School Assembly!
Today, we had our first school assembly, and it was so much fun! It was a virtual presentation from the Wildlife Learning Center (WLC) featuring live animals native to California. WLC is a zoological park nestled in an old olive grove in San Fernando Valley, California, where visitors can appreciate and learn about animals worldwide. WLC was founded to provide public education in the life sciences, conservation, and our environment. It is dedicated to providing life-long care to more than 100 displaced, rescued, and zoo-born wild animals who call this shady, natural environment home. Our next school assembly with them is on Monday, April 19, on conservation.
Upcoming Monday's Assemblies:
March 29 EcoHero - Like thousands of others worldwide, the students will have fun while learning how to take care of the planet.
April 19 WLC Conservation - Students will learn about the different aspects of how we can conserve wildlife, why we want to conserve wildlife, and how we can use education to understand the importance of conservation better.
