Mission:
The purpose of the Senior Capstone Mentorship Program is to provide graduates of Riverside High School with meaningful experiences, self-fulfillment, and opportunities for post-secondary success through civic engagement and career exploration.
Dates: May 18th - June 4th
Requirement 1: 60 Hours
Requirement 2: Participation in the Virtual Capstone Gala.
Requirement 3: $20 fee (goes towards the graduation stole and gala)
What is it? From May 18 through June 4, students will not be attending class to go to work in our community and gain real-world experiences. These can be mentorships with businesses or a community-based service project. Projects can be done in groups!
Can it be with any company? The company or project needs to be in the tri-state area. They are allowed to have a virtual experience as long as the company approves! The company cannot be one that their immediate family is employed by or that they are currently employed at. There is a full list of prohibited experiences on the Capstone webpage listed below.
What about MATA, ACL, and DE courses? Students will have to still attend these classes. While all other participants are required to complete 60 hours, Academy students will be required to complete 30. Students with multiple dual enrollment courses may have their hours dropped to 30 as well if needed by Ms. Plunkett.
Does it cost anything? Yes, there is a fee of $20 for the graduation stole and to go towards the celebration Gala on June 8th.
Where can I find more information? We have a webpage - https://bit.ly/RVHSCaps - and there will be question sessions on Thursday, March 11 and Thursday, March 25 at 8:15 am - Google Meet code: RVHCaps

What is the Academic Common Market?
Basically, the ACM allows a student to major in a specialized field of study at an out-of-state college, while paying in-state tuition. This is only applicable if you are interested in a degree program that is not offered in Virginia. There are a lot of rumors surrounding this program, get the facts at this website that explain exactly what the Academic Common Market really is: https://www.sreb.org/academic-common-market
