MAP Testing is this week!
Dear Parents,
MAP Testing time is here! 2nd Grade scheduled to take the MAP test beginning this Monday, April 30th. In order to end the year positively, I wanted to send out a few reminders to help make this testing week go as smoothly as possible.
TESTING TIPS :
2. Get to school on time! Feeling rushed does not prepare students for success. We will begin at 7:45am.
3. Encourage your child to think positively and take their time! Too much pressure is stressful for young children!
4. Please remind students to NEVER discuss scores with other students. This can negatively effect other students.
5. If you chose to do some reviewing each night, please try make it fun! We do not want our young ones to feel overwhelmed before/ during testing!
NO HOMEWORK
If you are looking for something for your child to do, we have created some OPTIONAL Study Island review assignments that your child can complete.
A Peek at Next Week......
Here's what's coming up when we return from Spring Break...
Reading: The majority of our Reading Block will be used for MAP testing this week. Students will have opportunities throughout the week to read, listen to stories and practice our 2nd grade reading skills.
ELA: We are continuing our writing unit on Narrative Writing! Students are continuing to brainstorm, plan each section of their story, and will begin writing rough drafts this week. We have some exciting authors in 2nd grade!
Social Studies: We will finish up our final discussion on more recent Famous Georgian's and Georgia's Cultures this week.
Science: We will continue discussing landforms and learning about the slow and rapid changes that causes these landforms to change. Students will be creating 3D models this week.
Math:
Mrs. Sanchez's Math: We are continuing our unit on Measurement with some hands-on measurement activities and centers!
Ms. Bentley's Math: Students will be completing Math Review Centers throughout the week.
Ms. Minor's Math: We are continuing our unit of Measurement with hands-on math investigation centers!
