Thank You!
One of these additions is a new library. Mrs. Stuckmeyer and I will be visiting some of the newer school libraries in our region to start brainstorming ideas for the all-new Bierbaum Library!

A Note from Bierbaum Summer School Principal, Nathan Perkins...
Bierbaum Families,
Hello! It’s your friendly neighborhood school counselor, Mr. Perkins. I wanted to take a brief moment to introduce myself and share a little bit about our upcoming summer school session at Bierbaum Elementary.
First off, I am excited and proud to be serving as the Summer School Principal at Bierbaum. This means that I am happy to answer any questions that you might have about Summer School in regards to scheduling, logistics, and more. Please feel free to reach out to me through phone or e-mail at your convenience. I love our Bierbaum Students and am so excited that they will have a summer school principal that they already know!
The plans for Summer School this year are a bit different than in previous years. Due to the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have anticipated the need for more instruction in the areas of Math and Reading and are preparing summer programming to address these needs. This summer, students in Kindergarten through Fifth grades, can expect to experience a full day (8:15am- 3:15am) of in-person instruction consisting of both remediation and enrichment. A typical daily schedule will consist of 2/3rds time dedicated to remedial instruction in Math and Reading, with the remaining portion of the day being dedicated to enjoyable enrichment activities.
Another component to Summer School this year, will be weekly themes. Each week, instruction and enrichment will be centered on a specified theme that your student may enjoy. You are welcome to check out each weekly theme at the Mehlville School District website here: https://mehlvilleschooldistrict.com/summer_session.
I look forward to seeing your student this summer! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions that you might have.
Yours Truly,
Nathan Perkins

Field Trip Opportunity for Next Year's 4thand 5th Grade Students
We are doing some preliminary planning for an optional field trip to the Great Smoky Mountains next year.
This is a four-day, three-night adventure in which students have the opportunity to explore nature and get some hands-on science-related learning opportunities.
At this time, we are just trying to gauge whether or not there is enough interest to pursue further planning of this trip.
Dropoff and Dismissal
For our families that use parent dropoff or parent pickup lines, I wanted to share a couple of important safety reminders that will also help speed the progress along.
- Pull all the way to the front of the pickup line, leaving little space between cars.
- In the mornings, please have your child ready to hop out of the car as soon as it comes to a stop.
- In the mornings and afternoon, please avoid getting out of your vehicle to help your child unless it is absolutely necessary.
- Please only make right turns on to Union Road.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application
Breakfast and Lunch continue to remain free for the 2020-2021 school. However, as a result of the number of families taking advantage of this opportunity, we have not received as many free and reduced lunch applications for this school. The number of students that qualify for free and reduced lunch has a direct impact on our federal funding. We are asking that families continue to fill out this application if you feel like your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch status.
