Ceasarean Delivery
By: Melissa, Taylor, Courtney, Isabel, and Dylanie
What it is?
A caesarean section, or c-section, is the delivery of a baby through a surgical incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus
Situations where you should plan a C-section:
-If you are carrying more than one baby
-If you are HIV positive
-The baby has a known malformation or abnormality that would make a vaginal birth risky
Advantages:
-if the Csection is scheduled, then it makes planning for the baby easier
-labor doesnt last for hours, Csections can be much quicker.
Disadvantages:
-Its riskier than vaginal delivery.
-Moms who have c-sections are more likely to have an infection, excessive bleeding, blood clots, more postpartum pain, a longer hospital stay, and a significantly longer recovery.
