Students have the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a work setting? If a student is interested in a particular career pathway and would like to deepen their knowledge and skill in a desired area, they can participate in a work-based learning experience. A Recent Field Trip

Mrs. Katie Eichhorst recently took her English 11 class to the Owatonna Orphanage Museum to support their learning as they have been reading The Orphan Train.

The Mankato East / West (Classic) Debate Team

The Mankato East / West (Classic) Debate Team - competed at the 2016 State Classic Debate Championship at South St. Paul High School on Friday & Saturday, December 2 & 3, 2016.

After 4 preliminary rounds of competition, 2 Mankato East (Novice) Debate Teams advanced to Octa-finals on Saturday.

Mankato East WS - Madeline Wilcox & Mikayla Stanley - both freshman at Mankato East High School. Mankato East BD - Malachy Bloom & Gavin Davis - Bloom is a freshman at Mankato East and Davis is in 7th grade at Prairie Winds Middle School.

Octa-finals is the top 16 teams in the Novice Division.

Bloom & Davis advanced out of Octa-finals after defeating Mounds Park Academy on a 3-0 judge panel decision. In Quarter-finals (top 8 teams) they faced Stillwater. The team took a loss to Stillwater and placed in the top 8 as quarter finalists out of 46 Novice Division Teams.

Mankato Area Public Schools' entered 7 teams in the Classic Debate Championship from all 4 Mankato Schools (Mankato East, Mankato West, Prairie Winds, & Dakota Meadows).

Debaters from Mankato, Rochester and metro area schools debated the resolution: Resolved: The United States should increase its military presence in the South China Sea in order to deter Chinese expansionism.

A total of 16 schools compete in the Classic Debate League

“Cougar Media” Communicating What is Going On In Our School!

Cougar Media is a course that focuses on different aspects of mass communications. This course is for students who are interested in a career in media or who are looking for a chance to shine on the screen or web are encouraged to register for the class. These students prepare a show that is shared with our student body on a bi-weekly basis. Please click here to see last weeks’ show.

East Family Engagement

It is our mission to promote and encourage communication and interaction among parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, students, and the public in hopes of deepening our community spirit, thus enriching our students’ educational, social, and developmental experiences.

The next Parent Engagement is Monday January 23rd at 6:00 pm in the East Media Center.
