There is a special opportunity to create a new style of high impact, revenue generating summer program for high school students. Concept: Meet the Gurus Summer Program

Students get to come to New York and get personal tutoring and exposure to industry and thought leaders. Over the course of the summer, they would get to visit a broad range of companies and meet the leaders who run them.

Concept: TEDed Alliance

TEDed is a new effort from the TED organization, to help educators maximize the usefulness of TEDs assets as support materials for the classroom.

Virtual Internships + Physical Experience

The growth of virtual internships, where companies give students real world projects and challenges to solve from home, is a wonderful opportunity to scale access to resume building experiences. Meritas virtual internship program could allow for students to get real project experience while not having to leave home.

Meritas Summer App Academy

In high demand areas like software development, people can find high paying jobs without a full 4 year degree. A summer program that teaches students the basics of writing code would be an very valuable skillset for any student.


App Academy is an intensive 10 week, web development course in San Francisco.

The student only pays the tuition if they find a job as a developer after the program.

The first batch graduated in September 2012. 93% of the 40 initial graduates got offers or are working in tech jobs now at an average salary of $83,000.

Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Music and Multimedia Academy

The Black Eyed Peas will open a music academy in New York City this year. The school, for students ages 13 to 19, will teach video and music production using professional-quality equipment. Students will be admitted based on recommendations from teachers and their interest in camera work, editing and graphic design.

Peapod Adobe Youth Voices Music and Multimedia Academy is a collaborative effort between the Peas' Peapod Foundation and the Adobe Foundation.

Futurlogic has created a 9 week online entrepreneurship school that could be repurposed into a summer bootcamp for high school students. The program is unique in that all students must create a ecommerce enabled website to graduate. They learn crwodfunding, viral marketing and all the other basic skills needed to launch a small business.
