A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Dear Members of the Kingsway Community,
I hope May's Principal's Message finds you and your family healthy and safe. Though our environment has changed drastically over the past seven weeks, I am proud to say that throughout this month our Dragon Spirit has continued on! Our students have attended countless virtual meetings with our teachers; many Dragons took part in the Second Annual Julie Riggi Walk-A-Thon on April 22nd; finally, there were over 6,000 views of the videos and pics that were posted to Flip Grid on KRMS's Red and Black Friday.
Over the past seven weeks, I have sent out a quick Monday morning message to the students, and I will continue to do so providing tips, a look ahead at upcoming events, and words of encouragement. I am so proud of how our students and staff have responded to this unfortunate situation. Our teachers continue to be flexible and adaptable while our students have shown a level of responsibility and maturity beyond their years. I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher, team leader, guidance counselor, vice-principal, or me directly if you have any questions or concerns, and please continue to monitor your child's progress and level of engagement through PowerSchool. Though this pandemic has affected all of us in a variety of ways, enjoy every extra moment with your middle school child through his/her journey over the next few months, for soon that middle school kid will be all grown up. GO DRAGONS!
Sincerely,
Mr. Tonelli
Principal, Kingsway Regional Middle School
Transfer Students: If your child will not attend Kingsway Regional High School or Middle School in September 2020, please send an email to Mrs. Walsh walsht@krsd.org in the Guidance Office as soon as possible. She will send you an electronic transfer packet. Completion and return of this packet will help to ensure the timely transfer of student records.
"Private Caller" & "No Caller ID": As mentioned in Dr. Lavender's communication, you may receive calls that show up on your caller ID as "Private" or "No Caller ID". Please know that we are encouraging our staff to reach out to parents via phone using the *67 function which keeps their number unrevealed. If you see "Private" or "No Caller ID" it may be the school reaching out to assist you or your child.
Field Trips: Unfortunately, both the seventh and eighth-grade field trips to Camp Ockanickon and aboard The Spirit of Philadelphia respectively have been canceled.
Middle School Yearbook: The 2019-20 Kingsway Regional Middle School Yearbook is still available to purchase. As the world adjusts to change, one thing that remains constant is the yearbook tradition. This yearbook will capture the story of a unique school year. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, click here . We will be communicating a distribution plan in the coming weeks.
Renaissance Update: As previously mentioned in the last newsletter and in a recent eblast sent out on April 28th, the Renaissance Program will continue despite our change in the school environment. The requirements for semester two are outlined on the website. Click here for the updated requirements and rewards. Continue to encourage your child to get involved! Seventh grade Renaissance members will be treated to an afternoon at the Fun-Plex in September, and eighth grade cardholders will benefit from all of the SMART lunch freedoms that come with the Renaissance card.
