Advent Mass
Advent Mass is on Dec. 9 at OLPH Church
5:15 pm ~ All students Gr. 1-4 must be in the pews where they will be singing for mass. Teachers and ushers will be there to direct you. At this point parents can make their way to their own pews. Please remember to honour the quiet and reverent nature of the Sanctuary.
5:30 pm ~ Each grade from 1-4 will take a turn standing on the altar to run through their songs for mass. Pictures will be taken by a photographer to be shared with the entire school community.
6:00 pm ~ Mass begins.
7:00 pm ~ Warm Drinks and Baked Good served in Parish Hall downstairs.
8:00 pm ~ Celebration ends, and clean-up commences.

Holy Spirit Makerspace!
Holy Spirit staff have taken on the task of incorporating a Makerspace into our school. So what is Makerspace? You have probably heard of it in passing or you may know of other schools who are also embracing the "maker" mentality into their school community. "Makerspaces foster innovation through hands-on experimentation. Participants have the opportunity to be creative and apply personalized learning strategies to make changes to existing concepts or develop their own ideas, methods or products." - National Innovators Hall of Fame. 21 st century skills are more than critical thinking and problem solving skills. A 21st century learner must also learn collaboration, flexibility, adaptability, leadership and productivity skills as well as have strong technology and research skills.
It is the belief that by utilizing a maker space to build on curricular outcomes we will help our students develop "These in-demand skill sets help to develop young minds for future success."
Throughout the year teachers will be working on a "wish list" of items they feel would be of use in our Makerspace. We would greatly appreciate it if our parent community could donate these items. Some items may be a short term collection and other items may be on an on-going basis.
At this time teachers at Holy Spirit are looking for donations of:
* Tin foil
*4L plastic milk jugs
Thank you for all your support!
