Curriculum Night Success

Thank you for joining us at Curriculum Night! If you missed it or would like to review what we covered, please see the presentation here.

Also, here is the information regarding BYOD, bring your own device. Please complete the form before sending your child with his/her device. For more information about the Acceptable Use Policy, please visit Mrs. Dwyer's website here.

Reminder, an "m" in the gradebook stands for "missing assignment". Although it calculates the average as a 0 in place of the "m", that is not permanent. Asking your child about the missing assignment is a good reminder for them to complete and turn in their work on time.

It was great seeing all of you, and we look forward to a great year!

Yours truly,

The Fourth Grade Team

What's Happening...

In the Classroom:

Language Arts - We are working the writing process to become better writers. Students get to choose their topic for their personal narrative and take it all the way through the writing process to publishing. Reminder, spelling tests will be on Friday to go over the "Words in a Snap". We will test one column per week.

Social Studies - Students are studying patriotic symbols and their meaning. Additionally, students got the chance to log in to Moodle and participate in a forum with the entire 4th grade!

Math - We have started our Stepping Stones curriculum. Students continue to work in their math notebook, and they also have a Stepping Stones workbook in class. We are diving into place value, representing numbers up to 6 digits. For more information, view the parent letter. Also, students are working on their Multiplication Facts, starting with 10's. Study ideas here.

Science - We are studying matter and energy. Students are measuring and comparing physical properties of matter.

Head's up:

  • Our first Silver Spurs will be honored during assembly on Friday, September 18th.
  • Cookie dough due September 23rd.

What's my login?

Students logged in to Moodle this week to participate in a class forum. They were very excited, and we know they would love to share. The site to access at home is moodle.nisdtx.org. Students' login is: firstname.lastname and password is their student ID number.

Under "My Courses", they can click on K.Dwyer - 4th for the course to find the Texas Symbols forum.

We are excited for more to come on that.
