The Integrative Classroom
By: Rocquel Bogue
Purpose
To develop a curriculum that integrates content from all subject areas. Each grade level will be responsible for creating a map that integrates science and social studies into their English Language Arts curriculum. This will create a rigorous, relevant, and engaging curriculum.
Data Collection
Each teacher will collect data using a variety of sources ranging from formative, summative assessments as well as observations.
Benefits
Students will have a higher mastery in all content areas as you are incorporating skills across all subject areas.
Where do we start?
Let's start small, begin with taking the science unit and incorporating it into your weekly reading unit. Rotate from science to social studies making sure to incorporate curriculum from both content areas. For example a unit in life science may include growing plants and read books such as "A Tiny Seed."
