THE RAPP REPORT "Anita RAPPS It Up"
Must-See December Events
Winter won’t be slowing Toronto down this December. There’s still plenty to see and do in the city – from holiday traditions to holiday cheer.
The world premiere of A Christmas Carol, the family musical with a screw loose, is set to take the stage at Toronto’s Elgin Theatre. Cyrus Lane will make his Petty Panto debut as everyone’s favourite Christmas curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge.
This Amazing Light Tunnel is Opening Just Outside of Toronto
November is in the air, so it’s time to start gearing up for the holiday season, which is rapidly descending upon us all. Holiday lights are about to erupt around Toronto, but some of the biggest displays will be outside of the city.
To really get in the festive mood, consider a short trip to see some of the most outlandish light shows in Southern Ontario. Niagara Falls' Winter Festival of Lights is always a big hit, but it's not the only one worth a look.

November , 2017 -- Toronto Real Estate Board President Tim Syrianos reported 7,118 residential sales through TREB's MLS® System in October 2017. This result represented an above-average increase between September and October of almost 12 per cent, pointing to stronger fall market conditions.
On a year-over-year basis, October sales were down compared to 9,715 transactions in September 2016. Total sales reported through the first 10 months of 2017 amounted to 80,198 – down from 99,233 for the same time period in 2016.
Toronto, Vancouver see home-sales rush ahead of new stress-test rules
Home sales climbed in October in both Toronto and Vancouver as buyers moved to lock in purchases in Canada's most expensive cities before new mortgage stress-testing rules take effect in January. These changes could be effective as early as today for some lenders, but no later than January 1, 2018 and will impact anyone looking to purchase or refinance a home with 20% or more down payment or equity - i.e., a lot of people.
The Toronto Real Estate Board said home sales in the Greater Toronto Area climbed 12 per cent in October, marking the biggest month-over-month growth in sales since Toronto's overheated housing market hit a sales peak in March. October sales were 27 per cent lower than October last year, however, when the GTA had record sales.
Toronto is Getting a Winter Street Food Market
Toronto's not the type of city to let cold weather get in its way when it comes to eating food – thanks in large part to our city's robust roster of food trucks.
Come rain, come shine, come six months of wind that makes your bones shiver, Toronto's food trucks always seem to find a way to get us what we need, even in the heart of a blizzard. Canadian chefs are hardcore like that.
On Dec. 2nd, The Winter Village at Evergreen Brick Works will open its seasonal cold-weather Street Food Market to coincide with its other holiday programming, which includes Christmas tree sales, street curling, and an Etsy Holiday Market.

CABBAGE PATCH KIDS
Best 24-hour Diners in Toronto
An all-night diner isn’t just for making a preemptive strike on an expected hangover. They are a cafeteria for those working night shifts, clubhouse for cab drivers and oasis for travellers whose bodies are still, in spirit, in a different timezone. I cut my late-night eating teeth at the much-maligned Mel’s Montreal Diner—anyone else remember the Big Baby Breakfast?—that has since closed.
These are the best versions of the 24-hour diner in Toronto.

The 7 Best Substitutes for Sour Cream
Sour cream is a popular fermented dairy product that’s consumed in a variety of ways.
It is often used as a condiment atop dishes like soups and baked potatoes, but it can also be used as an ingredient in baked goods like cakes, cookies and biscuits.
It is made by combining cream, which is the high-fat layer skimmed off the top of whole milk, with lactic acid bacteria.
The lactic acid causes the cream to become more acidic, resulting in a tangy, sour taste.
While sour cream is a popular food for many, some people can’t or don’t want to use it due to preferences, intolerances or allergies.
This article lists the 7 best substitutes for sour cream, including how to use them.
