WOMEN IN AFRICA.
CONFLICTS IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA
By Raquel Guerra-Galamez
BACKGROUND OF THE ISSUE
In North Africa household tend to be centered around mens. Men do to work in offices or on farm. Some womens get a job in farbing or other type of agricultural job.Men and women generally eat and pray seperalty. Womens are in charge of their chldrens, food and household materials (if they can.) Their husbands don't help them in the house.
ANALYSIS OF THE CAUSE OF THE CONFLICT
In general womens don't get any education. Some womens go to school but drop school because they get pregnant at between their 14's. Must all of the womens have informal labour force. Few womens hold jobs after marriage. Plus they are the guardians of their childrens and are responsible for them. Womens in Africa are really dependent of their husbands, this come from their religion, they see women less then males.
LOCATION/ COUNTRIES INVOLVED
Most all Africa is involve to the issue Womens in Africa. Southe Africa is not part of this issue but they still have some injustices. The countries more involved are Tunisa(North Africa), Tanzania and Monzambique (East Africa) and Senegal (West Africa)
Statistical information
Studies determined the occurence of physical violence of 3,025 young womens aged between 18-24 years.60%-99% of girls between 14-17 years reported having experienced sexual abuse.
According to the data of the MIC 3 survey (2006), 12.2% of women got married before the age of 15 years, 41% got married before the age of 18 years and 22% of women between 15 and 19 are in marriage. In Africa (excluding South Africa) is one of the two regions of the World with the highest rates of informal employment.
In Africa (excluding South Africa) is one of the two regions of the World with the highest rates of informal employment. What else needs to be done?
In Tunisa the right to have more than one wife at a time had been abolished. It had also increased the penalty for spousal abuse. Now womens can get divorce. Preeteen girls are no longer permit to have an arrangment marriage. Womens are now pay for equal jobs
PLAN TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM:
They need more jobs and educated poeple. To have more educated poeple, they need to open more schools and put teachers who know what their doing. In their schools they should theach to womens to be more independent .I think African poeple should propose the goverment to make a law that all kids from 4-18 years old have to go to school. If the goverment allow this, poeple would start thinking differntly about women being less important than males because all girls and boys would go to a school together. Also it would make that teens/womens don't get pregnant so young and get education. And in the future this womens could get a decent job and care for their children to do the same as what they did
