Accessing library resources
The library offers a wide collection of print and electronic resources. You can visit the library or search the collection from the homepage of Ding. If you need any help finding or using any of these, please ask a member of library staff.
Oliver
Oliver is the library OPAC which allows you to search the catalogue of resources available in the library. Our collection includes books (print, audio and electronic), magazines and DVDs.
Online resources
You can access the library's Online Resources collection through Ding by logging in and selecting MYP & DP Resources. Here you will find a variety of databases, useful websites and online magazines.
ePlatform
ePlatform by Wheelers is our eBook service. You can see what eBooks we have by searching on Oliver (just search for a title) or you can connect directly to ePlatform through Ding. For help setting up an account, please ask Ms. Corcoran.
RECOMMENDED ONLINE RESOURCES
- Log in to Online Resources (link on Ding).
- Choose the MYP & DP Resources option.
- You can search by subject area e.g. Humanities or just scroll down through the page to see what is available.
- If the resource needs a password, the password will be given on this page.
Questia
Questia is a fantastic online library and research tool which features books, magazines, newspapers and academic journals. Topics covered include art, literature, philosophy, politics, religion, science and many more. Questia is available to Year 11-13 students.
JSTOR
JSTOR is a digital library of academic journals and books. Arts, business, history, science, social science and more are covered in the wide range of material available. Research tools including citation tools and search alerts are available.
Global Issues in Context
Global Issues in Context offers a huge range of resources including academic and newspaper articles, podcasts, videos and more focusing on global issues, conflicts and events. A really excellent tool that should definitely be explored. Again a huge range of topics covered.
WiseSearch
WiseSearch is a Chinese and English database of published information from Greater China. It has newspapers, magazines and other publications. This database can only be accessed from within DC.
Hong Kong Public Libraries
You should join Hong Kong Public Libraries in order to gain access to a variety of research databases and other electronic and print resources. The mobile library visits Discovery Bay twice a week so registering for an account should be easy.
EasyBib
EasyBib is one resource every student should use. You can use it for creating citations and bibliographies, for organising your work and for research. You can access it directly through your gmail account, don't forget to apply the code "discohshk" when you first use it!
